OEM Exhaust MOD

Team,

I just wanted to share my experience regarding the OEM exhaust mod with you Canadian's out there contemplating a fancy TI exhaust. Maybe I'll make you think twice. I wasn't looking for an (arguable) 10+ hp or weight reduction. I was seeking to rid the car of the bland OEM exhaust note. I say keep it and send it to the shop for 3-4 hours.

I've previously had an Arka EVO, HARTGE (axle back) and AA (axle back) exhaust installed on my 2011 M3. DON'T spend the extra $$$$ on one of those systems if you're only looking to change the sound. IMO the OEM mod sounds the best out of the bunch and that's why I'm here trying to save someone the hassle I've gone through to finally end up here with the CHEAPEST mod. Baby Jesus would approve of the sound my car now makes!

As some may know, I've recently picked up a 13 Frozen Blue e92. I had a local shop here in Victoria, BC complete the OEM mod after hearing the sounds coming out of their own 13 Fire Orange e92. They are e92 owners and enthusiats and understand the BMW addiction. VCM AUTO are pros and have all the fancy gear required to make this happen.

I understand this doesn't help me with my FS add where I have the Hartge for sale but I don't really care. I'm a petrol head and maybe just one person will rethink their purchase by reading this.

I intend on posting a video shortly.

Absolutely! way better sound.
I honestly think our M3' should have come stock with this sound. It's so pure and refined sounding now. No drone, nothing crazy. Tame under 3000 rpm.

Seriously, take my word.

I did the perforated pipe mod on his car and removed about half the glass pack in the muffler. the muffler bypass might drone as the perforated still uses the good parts of the stock muffler.

Agreed, best mod so far hehe, and cheap too (done it myself). Sound is just right, any louder and I'd probably hate it on morning drives to work.

I've got zero experience with the Meist exhaust. I'm willing to bet that the OEM mod is cheaper. And it sounds amazing.

I can't speak on the Toronto locations but I'm sure there are tones of people here who do know. No warranty issues from what I'm told.

GMW,

Nice review. Did you do the perforated pipe method or the muffler bypass method?
