Best Norcal Tuning Shops (Top 3)

Quote:
Question is, who are your top 3 Norcal tuning shops, and most importantly, WHY?!

Sharing is caring, and would definitely like to hear other peoples opinions and feedback. I know every shop has it's own fanboys, so if you feel inclined to "rep" your shop, please provide some reasons as to why.

Thanks in advance and hoping to hear some varied responses!

Good idea!

Even though I'm in socal, I've dealt with SonicMS and they've been awesome! Very professional and easy to deal with. I purchased my authentic 20" BBS LM's from them.

Trust me, working with professional shops is very important, especially in this kind of economy!

When I need stuff done locally, I go to Sonic MS. They treat me well there and will always go there for my suspension, tire and alignment needs.

Pretty much every part and install is from SonicMS. Darwin always takes care of me.

I haven't had any luck with any of the Norcal tuning shops. I've tried calling SonicMS and Alekshop numerous times over the past few months to book installs or inquire about parts and every time I call either of them, I get a voicemail or a google voice answer or they're moving, etc. In the rare chance that I get through to a human being, they've been super inexperienced and unprofessional. I've actually just given up on the shops up here and get stuff done whenever I'm in Socal at EAS.

My car has only been to Alekshop. I like the fact that he owns or has owned most of the cars he works on and recommends parts that he's tested on his own cars. He takes his cars to the track so we are on the same page when it comes to modding. He's really passionate about BMW (specifically M cars) and has been able to get pretty rare BMW M parts for me. Aleks is great to work with and I wouldn't take my car anywhere else.

Have you tried calling Performance Technic in Pleasanton? I know a lot of folks from SF or the South Bay who go to PTech to get maintenance, mods, and track prep done.

PTech has factory-trained BMW master technicians (not only a tuner shop, but full repair/service/custom engine swaps). In addition to preparing customer cars for the track and hosting private track days, they race in US Touring Car Championship (their team is sponsored by BMW of Concord, Dinan, Brembo, etc.).

I recommend Alekshop. Most, if not all the work on my car was done by Aleks. He treats my car with the utmost respect. He only recommends products he has used and tested on the street and track. Additionally, he is extremely flexible with my schedule and goes out of the way to keep his customers happy. I would not take my car to any other shop for modifications.

I will recommend Alekshop. If you want ur ride to go further to the next level of high performance on the street and track cause alek does kNow what sap. He builds his M car of course he does track as well that is the way to find out what is the best he can bring into the high performance game for the M car. So that is the guy you give a permission to touch and work on ur babe bro. Other wise save that $$$$ for something else. Don't end up spend alot Of $$$$$$ trouble you.

I've had a seriously good experience with ALEKSHOP. I met Aleks through the forum when purchasing my ESS supercharger. Since then I have purchased every nut and bolt from the shop. The reason being not so much the competive pricing offered but the knowledge the shop has for our cars. The recommendations made by Aleks himself transformed my car's potential to an unexepected result. Its not all business with him. He is a racer and car guy first. From rare parts to common problems, they have the solution. If only the shop was closer, I think I'd have my own chair and desk there!

Kudos to a great shop and great guy. Im not sure you'll find a better outfit anywhere in the country.

I will second PTech. As far as I know, they only work on BMWs. Fantastic service, fast and reasonably priced.

I vote Performance Technic. I had gone to a lot of shops in the bay area and had an unpleasant experience with one of the shops mentioned above and can vouch that Performance Technic has by far been the best in worksmanship and service. I drive an hour out of San Francisco to take my car there. P-Tech makes it worth the drive.

I have visited but not had work done at Alekshop. I was very impressed with the shop and shop cars.
