Fix clear coat scratch

2 weeks into driving my pristine vehicle I decide to spray wax stuff on my mildly dirty car and wipe it with a microfiber. Right before I decide to clear bra it of course I find I put some scratches in the bottom rocker panel. I had a detailer guy buff out two of the scratches pretty much completely, but one is finger nail deep. WTF do I do? I want to clear bra that bottom piece pronto since it's a rock stopper but not over this mild scratch.

Would opticoat fill it in?

If it's that deep, you will want to properly fix first. Opticoat will likely not fix it.

I dont think opti coat will fix it. This scratch should be fixed before any opti coat is applied as it will seal it in.

Depending on how bad the scratch is, you only have so many options. You could always fill it in with touch up paint and have it sanded down with 2000 grit and 3000 grit and then polished afterwards.

Yup I saw you're listed as Bay Area and I knew he's somewhere around there. He's considered one of the best in the business in all the states so don't be shocked if he has some high price. Just saying so you don't shoot the messenger

If it is deep, not much you can do other than have a body shop work on it. Also, clear bra will cover up most imperfections so you may not even notice it after clear bra.

Auto Concierge is right next to Alekshop in Fremont.

Bob at Auto Concierge does great work. I had Bob detail my car upon delivery. Scratch repair can be tricky due to the thin layer of paint/clear applied at the factory. If it's more of a chip than a scratch, that will require a lot more work/patience to get it right without a re-spray. Bob is just a block away from Alekshop. He was right next door, but Aleks moved recently.

He also applied Opti-Coat to my wheels. They clean up with little more than a high pressure hose.

As far as having a Clear Bra installed in the Bay Area, I would call Johnson Lin.

Both Bob and Johnson are professional, do excellent work and use quality products.

If you have any questions feel free to pm me.

I had a guy at a shop nearby look at it and he said a clearbra should make it invisible - the only way you can see it now is if you get your face about a foot away from it anyway. The guy said I could get some scratch remover from the store to take most of it out. I'm a little hesitant to apply any abrasive stuff to my car myself.

Thanks. That's the same guy that Bob referred me to as well. Bob seems like a nice guy, spent a lot of time on the phone with me. He's a little further away from me than I'd like. Just want to get the clear bra on pronto before any more damage is done.

I got reference for a mobile guy who will do clear bra for pretty cheap. $950 for hood, fenders, rocker panels and mirror caps! I already had the bumper done by another tint shop.

If you want your car to look its best, Bob at Auto Concierge is your guy. He lives, breathes this stuff.

Johnson Lin is also mobile. His shop is in SF, but he travels all over the Bay Area. I would give him a call and ask for a quote.

I think I'm going to get some scratch remover from the store and give that a whirl. This scratch is borderline too small to deal with 2 hour meetings with pro guys who will want me to drop the car off and repaint the thing. Just getting ridiculous, just wanna get the bruise down enough to wrap it.

I think with some off the shelf product, you can knock that down to a hair line scratch. Just take your time. The pics are close up, so it makes it look worse I'm sure. A Clear Bra should make what's left unnoticeable.

I had a guy who's mobile in San Jose come and put a piece of film on my car...scratch was invisible. So I'm going forward with it. The guy is gonna hook me up with headlight coating and mirror cap for free (since the guys I paid to do my bumper didn't include headlights). He's gonna do one sheet and wrap around the hood edges and inside the intake holes so you can't see any lines....man am I stoked to have my car wrapped! I'm thinking of adding the rear bumper.
