Breakin service due at 600mi?

I've been driving my car pretty well following breakin recommendations, Staying under 5k rpm except a few 6500-7k hits, Under 85mph. Otherwise I tend to gas it until 5k. The service indicator lit up first and said 700mph when I was at 500 some miles. Then toward 600 miles I get Service due light 600. So I guess the computer determines when to service based on driving? What exactly is it looking for to make this determination? And I presume I should take it in now.

Just curious.

This is normal. It's based on your driving style and it also starts indicating service due prior to actual "service due" in order to give you time to set up the appointment and get it in for service. Based on what you wrote I'm gathering that the car wants you to do the service at 1200 miles... at 500 miles it said service due in 700 miles (500 + 700 = 1200), at 600 miles it said service is due in 600 miles (600 + 600 = 1200).

I see where you're going. But now, I start the car and it just says "Service Due" on the iDrive and indicator panel.
I'll double check it doesn't show a 400 miles now.
