Used 911 Turbo vs New GTR vs SC M3

If all three cars are similarly priced, which option would you pick as a weekend car (2nd car)? Why?

1. Used 911 Turbo (stock)

2. New 2014 GTR Premium (stock)

3. Supercharged M3 (Modded to match the price of the other two cars)

Thanks!

I am a fan of the M3 but not of the others...

So I substituted with as follows:

1. Used 2012 Audi R8 V10 UG Turbo

2. Used 2012 Gallardo LP460-4 UG Turbo

3. Supercharged M3 (Modded to match the price of the other two cars)

While the Turbo & GTR are stellar cars I would get tired of them after a while, with the M3 supercharged you get the best of both worlds. So I would choose the M3 hands down! Matter fact I passed by the BMW dealership today on my way home & there was a super clean 911 parked for sale that someone had traded in. A M3 is a hard car to beat in real world driving not to mention a supercharged M3!

However, if you're looking for an all out track car I would lean towards the turbo.

Honestly don't put all that money in a M3. Waste.

Buy one of the other two.

I agree with you. I guess I'm just not a fan of forced induction (specifically turbos) kills the sound of the car and the turbo lag, to me is no fun. I love the feel of a powerful high revving Na engine.

I tried the turbo s and while very fast, the car offers little aural excitement compared to the screaming engines in cars like the m3, Ferraris, and lambos. So if I were to pick one of those 3 it would have to be the m3 even though I love the look of the 911.

It would really depend on the specifics of the car.

The GTR is obviously new, but what mods are on the M3 vs how is the 911 turbo optioned?

Keep in mind also, that to make an M3 perform in the same league as the other two cars, you are flushing a lot of money down the toilet. On the other hand, with a $1500 ECU upgrade, you can add an easy 100hp more to the already blistering fast GTR or 911 TT

Full Options Turbo. I like the GTR, but the Porsche is more refined from a build / materials perspective.

Everyone has different reasons for what they choose, and these are all great choices.

Funny because this is exactly what I was looking at when I decided to order a comp package/DCT e92 '13 M3 and upgrade with a BBK, 650 S/C, Akra exhaust with X pipe and tires/minor suspension bits. Cost less than going the GTR or used 911 T route.

For my purpose (roll-ons and occasional track use), very glad I went this route.

Next car will be much better than any M3, GTR or 911T - a mid-engine screaming V10 R8 with UGR TT kit.

Wow..
You are going through the exact path as the one that I have in mind.. I was also thinking about the used R8 v10 option but thought that it would attract to much attention from the crowd.
Thinking about pulling the trigger on Jan/Feb!
Thanks to the other guys for your opinions too!

All of those can be daily-drivers so if I was looking into spending $110k for a weekend car, I would just go for a 2010 Audi R8 V10 or a 997.2 Porsche GT3.

You will want to shoot yourself in the left foot after trying to dd a gt3 after 2 months. I can tell you this from experience. I actually traded a 2010 gt3 for a 2011 r8 v10. So a gt3 would be a good second or third car. The r8 can be daily driven with no problems (at least for me).

I wouldn't recommend DD a GT3 either, but OP's asking for a weekend car and the GT3 would be amazing as one.

I HATE when people completely ignore the parameters. Please tell me where I can find the Audi or Lambo with UG Turbo for $100k (I'm using the price of a 2014 GTR).

Between the cars listed by the OP, I would take the 911 Turbo with a manual transmission. If we are talking with dual clutch tranny, I would take the GTR. But my choice in this range would be a R8 V10 any day of the week.

i like the 911 trubo, no love it. but i feel it cost to much money. I think its a better car over the GTR. but i would want a new GTR over a used trubo if that makes sense.

It seems like R8 V10 is favored by many at this price range..
Guess I'll have to add it to my list of options
