Fender Liner Rubbing

I am running ohlins R&T coilovers with a 2 finger gap in the front and am getting a little bit of rubbing over large bumps in the area where the front fender meets the bumper (see first photo). I haven't heard of rubbing in this area before? Maybe its because the ohlins coilovers have a lot of travel? I don't think this is an offset issue so I don't think there is much I can do except let it run its course..

Also, in the rear I am getting rubbing in the typical rear fender/bumper connection point. I have done some dremeling and bending with a heat gun but is there any reason why I shouldn't just cut the area out altogether by removing the red "shaded" area in the second photo?
