Where to get tires in the bay?
So I usually go to America's Tires but now that I have an M3, I'm worried about them scratching the rims. Are there any other shops that have as good a selection in SF or on the peninsula?

I usually order tires online then take it to a local shop for install.
For installing them, I had a good experience with Robert's Tire in SF. I always tell them I am very particular about my wheels even though they are stock. Robert, the technician and I reviewed each rim and point out every little imperfection before installing tires to make sure I know what it looks like before and after install. I requested that they hand torque every lug nut and not use any air tools. He thought I was crazy but they did it according to what I wanted. Excellent service! If you aren't in SF, there are other good tire places outside of the city. In SF, it is hard to find good auto shops as most people living in SF don't care about their cars.

My friend took his rims to Topline to get tires installed. The technician kicked the boxes for the wheels around the floor to move them and then scratched one of the wheels while mounting. Topline charges a lot and they are supposed to be one of the top "VIP" car shops... Mach 3 in SF is mixed.. I had a good experience when I was there and supervised the tire install. (I've installed tires before so I know the procedure) But another friend of mine had his wheels scratched by them when he dropped them off for an install.

Bay Bridge Bimmers and Minis of oakland (1-510-208-3273). They get tires asap from tire track, good humble guys that actually has racing experience since the bmw 2002's...

DO NOT GO TO MACH
Those are some shady guys. I've heard my friend say that he got used RFT from there and they gave him patched tires (instead of unpatched that was shown in person). I suggest just getting tires from tirerack and going to Sonic MS. Or order from Sonic directly if you don't care to lug wheels.

Thanks for the plug. We are happy to help, also source most of our tires from TireRack. You are also welcome to drop ship here.
We use all the latest leverless and road force balancing equipment here in house. Let me know if we can help in any way. |
