M3 button

All,

I just sold my Z4 35is and got E93 m3 convert. Ride is much better than Z but it is not as fast as Z though. Just curiosity, how often do you hit THE M button?

Hit THE M button, push to 5000rpm and I am sure it will be faster than Z.

Can't compare an m3 to a z...it's apples and oranges.

I hit the m button when I want too drive spirited. The m3 IMHO is not a crazy fast car...it's fast enough however

Whenever I need to accelerate quick, usually on the freeway. My car starts in D1, so I need to get into D5 with the M button. I do it maybe 2-3 times in a 20 minute commute.

You're doing it wrong.

The z4 35i will be faster if
You're unwilling to rev the E93 M3 above 6k rpm.

On the other hand - if you use the rpm band between 6-8.4k - the E93 will be faster.

Z35i is faster than an M3? what is this? a thinly disguised 335 vs M3 post?

The 0-60 and 1/4 times/speed are pretty identical between the Z435is and the m3 e93, so I think some of the above posters are being biased or not up to speed on the data. But that also leads me to believe you're mistaking the lighter weight/higher torque of the Z4 for being "faster". The e93 is about 600 lbs heavier.

You're spot on about the ride though, as shortcomings in the current Z4 chassis is one of the reasons BMW went with resurrecting the "is"for the E89 and didn't make an M version, as opposed to previous generations of the Z3 and Z4.

As for the M button. It's on all the time. I wish the car went from S to D back to S without reverting transmission settings back to the default of
S3, because I have to then press the M button twice - or adjust the transmission manually.

I bet the Z4 35is will beat the m3 convertible, its just too heavy. but awesome car for fun
