Power and EDC settings not being stored in remote

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hi all. Finally got my M on Friday night. Quick question (Yes, have read the manuals.)

The manual states that (car is MT, ZCP, no iDrive) when pressed in console, Power and EDC settings will be retained when car is turned off. "The selected program is stored for the remote control currently in use and is reactivated the next time the engine is started." (Pg. 31 for Power, Pg. 39 for EDC, slightly different language, Supplementary Owner's Manual.)

I am having to manually depress buttons every time I re-fire the car, despite using the same remote. Any ideas/suggestions?

MDOSU, I know, I know, "first world problems" but it is annoying to have to re-set functions manually every time.

Thanks.

I thought they always went back to the default and the M button changed to what you wanted but I could be wrong. Have you tried a different fob?

Yup, both fobs, no dice. Manual could be wrong, I suppose, or could it be a coding issue from the factory? Mr. Benvo, paging Mr. Benvo....

Try setting it with the key plug in the key hole. I cant remember if I did it this way. But yes, you should be able to program your power setting and edc settings according to which key you use.

The key fob automatically remembers stuff like driver seat position, A/C settings, audio settings. The start-up parameters, such as EDC and Power setting, are also key fob dependent, but need to be pre-programmed in the iDrive. The car will always start-up to the default settings defined in the iDrive. You can also define other start-up parameters such as servotronic and shift light activation (on DCT cars) on this iDrive menu. Another cool feature is that the M-button settings are also key fob dependent.

first world problems bro...lol

j/k, no this is definitely a problem, many members have this issue. You sure you don't have the other key with you? The initial reaction is, the car is reading the wrong key (comfort access issue), if both are present in the car.

I have the CCC navigation, and was able to set the default properly in my car's "key dependent" menu

Other than that, not sure, I would meet up with another member to make sure it's not user error. lol

^ Right, but the OP doesn't have iDrive. OP, I'm not sure whether the state of those settings outside of M Mode can be stored permanently; it may be that non-iDrive cars can only store preferences on those items for M Drive. Agreed the wording of the manual suggests otherwise, though. Hopefully other non-iDrive owners with 2011.5 cars (where M Drive became standard) can chime in.

My bad.

Should have been more attentive when reading OP...

OP needs a non-idrive owner to discuss issue.

With I-drive you have to set your "M-Key Settings". Not sure about without it.
