Gotta say, though, the white car looks sharp with the contrasting black ducts and rear valence. new Cayman lines are so sexy, wow! Maybe plasti-coat finish the black exterior bits in a pearl black? Porsche's finishes on their exterior plastic parts have never looked top shelf to me. But their philosophy is to build to the lightest weight possible with best possible tensile strength in every piece of the car and they are all amazingly feather light when you remove them.

Boxster S every time..especially coming from an M3. IMHO, I couldn't sacrifice that much power.. so I wouldn't go with the base boxster!

100% Boxster S vs. Base. Drive them both and you will know instantly. Base is tempting because it keeps the price down, but the car is just not the same. I imagine it's the same with the Cayman.

Traded my 2010 E92 M3 on a Guards Red, Cayman S with PDK, sport chrono, PAS, PTV, infotainment nav, premium, etc.

I'll miss the M3's top end, but this thing is not exactly slow either.

Here's a couple quick pics:

i will admit. thats a good looking car. although i would still rather have a used 911 over a new cayman S. I think the good camera and red, is what making me like it more.

Just curious to why? Haha..a 997 Carrera will be on par with the Cayman's performance and I personally feel the mid-engine nature of the car would put the cayman slightly ahead. A used 991S is still much more expensive than a new Cayman (similar options on both).

The new cayman s looks sick. I have driven a 2010 manual and it was great. A fantastic machine. I still love the M and have no reason to move to over but I dont think I would ever mind having a Cayman S. Its just a ton of fun to drive. The mid engine platform is spectacular too. Definitely better than any 911 base

Drove the boxster Spyder at WSIR and it was simply outstanding. Thing is like a scalpel, you instantly feel the weight difference compared to the M.

Enjoy the new car! Looks great

the new cayman looks good this time
in a way, it exactly looks like a 911, except the engine is installed in a better place lol

i agree i think the appeal of the new cayman is that it looks much closer to a 911 and that is the car i have wanted since a kid.

Saw a Cayman S on the road for the first time last week and I found it stunning. Soooooooo much better than it used to be. I would still not be able to justify $80k for one but either a lightly optioned/lightly used one in the $60s would be nice.

Seems like Porsche is outpacing most in that regard...

you can grab a used 911 (couple years old) for the price of a 2013 well equipped cayman S. I usually don't buy used cars also, but in this case i would over getting a cayman S.

Honestly to me porsche is 911, thats it. every other model i don't like.

Like i said early i need more than just a good handling car. I don't see tracks often either. The engine noise of the cayman is OK, the looks are good from certain angles.

the M3 looks great from all angles, engine noise is a thing of legends ..... and of course the car has good handling. maybe not as good as the cayman S, but still for my street driving i love it.

the 911 is just a classic sporty car, very aggressive look. of course great performance, maybe not as balanced as the cayman S. but i just don't care.....

I can get a 997.1 Turbo (which is what I absolutely want) for the same price as a low/medium optioned CaymanS. That and the fact I love my M3 is the reason I'm not quite willing to jump on the Cayman yet.

However, in the future when people dump them for half price, absolutely

Nice pics!

Also how is the actual ride? I had an 07 Z4MC and for the first year it was ok but after that the little roadster was horrible on my back and legs, especially on long drives. I am wondering if the Porsche is the same way.
Just have to sit closer if your legs and back hurt. This cayman sits you perfectly. Low to the ground, legs straight to the pillow. The m3 feels like a love seat compared to this.

NICE CAR!!

I'm not going to lie. It's pretty damn rough especially compared to my DD Lexus. It's livable and easy to get used to. I did expect this ride to be rougher than the M since I did get the optional 20" wheels. I didn't get the PASM and sometimes wish I did but I don't really take this car on harsh roads..if you are worried about the ride, i would recommend the pasm for sure.

Looks good. Thanks for explaining why you didn't get a GT-R. I was surprised when I read (I think on DFW AC) earlier that you'd gotten a Porsche as I thought you were getting a GT-R. The new Cayman is a great looking car.
