V1 Hardwire Issues.

So, as I started my adventure to hardwire my V1 in my E90 I ran into some issues. I searched the forums/online of course and found the following to be the "best"/easiest for me, I had the splice, cables and everything from V1.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...9&pp=22&page=8

Anyways, as soon as I got down the light console I saw something different. My wires are covered/wrapped in some sort of sticky fabric that prevents me from hooking up the splice... Anyone else run into the same issue? Please see images below, I apologize about the quality but I believe they will get the message across.

All advice/explanations on what to do next is highly appreciated!

It is 1000x easier to go through the fuse box and use a tap. I dot understand why people still do it this way.

Just pick up an "add a fuse" kit and plug it into the fuse box... Took me 15 minutes to get it all installed

Do you just plug into a fuse that is normally off when the ignition is off? Which one did everyone use?
