3M Paint Defender spray-on clearbra?

So a buddy at work pointed this stuff out to me, looks pretty new and could be decent way to add some protection...but I'm still fairly skeptical of how it holds up and removing it around trim and bumper etc.

I was wondering the exact same thing. Looks promising though considering how easy it is to apply

I gotta think that this will be like Line-X vs. the spray can stuff you can buy at the store.

Very interesting post. I just started looking into this and the Plasti Dip product as a means of protection for my bumper and hood during track days.

I'm looking forward to your update - how was it to spray on, how does it look once dry, etc. to help make a decision on which product to go with.

3M usually doesn't screw around when they release a product.

^ seems to be any painted surface. Looks like it needs a pretty smooth surface to level out appropriately and be removable.
I wonder how it would work over glass, could make for easy (if not expensive) cleaning during bug season

Read some reviews where it seems to be a case of you get what you pay for, it looks like a cheap clear bra. Might be OK to apply to a Honda Civic but prob will look like crap on a ~$75K car.

I can see it being pretty handy for a track day.

That's the purpose I was thinking of also. It's more protection than not using anything, and looks to be better than covering the front of a car with painter's tape.

So started doing the front bumper and rockers last night. I went to heavy on some spots on the front so currently removing from the front to redo, big pain. The spots where the thickness was correct look great though. Will update with pics later.

Moderators "MKOESEL" or "Dackelone" had a thread about this, but it fell to the way side; no one paid attention to it.

I would follow the instruction on the video, and apply the coats evenly.

This will make an awesome product if one to track their car, or long drives.

so I used the product and really like it. I personally think that on a vertical surface (bumper, rocker, behind rear wheels) that three coats is to much and causes runs. Found this out the hard way on the front bumper had to peal the whole front because of the runs. I have done the rockers and behind the rear wheels and am pretty impressed with how even and clear it comes out. I will take pictures when its not raining outside.

Stuff works. Just make sure to spray enough on or it's impossible to get off.
