Yep, it's getting pretty pricey for Vette.

Also, I like the name Blue-Devil better..

Pretty pricey for a vette? I think this car deserves a lot more respect that it gets. I know its an American car, but this car has a heritage of 50-plus years of Corvette victories on the race track.

As much as I like the M6 it doesn't even come close to the performance of this car on the track.

As with most American cars. I wont put Chevrolet as a luxury car brand.

But in terms of high end performance. Its hard to find cars that cost less than the Z06 with performance even remotely close to it.

The Z06 Nurburgring time is currently 7:42.9. Thats enough to make most supercars blush.

Too bad 1% of 1% will take their cars to the track. So in the real world on real roads, the M6 will kill the corvette.

do you really think an M6 as a snowballs chance in hell of staying with that car in a straight line or in curves????? Have you driven a new Corvette at length on "real roads"?? There's a reason it functions that well on a track and it works on the street just as well. I've smoked an M6 in my C6...granted it's not stock and I'm running around Z06 level power, but if it can't keep up with me it has NO chance against that monster.... If you still think that then you need to take the BMW tinted glasses off....

Easy there killer. When I think real world, I think traffic, highway and narrow back roads. When Im stuck in traffic, Id much rather be coddled with the BMW comfort than the corvette 2" thick seats. When Im on the highway, Id like to be cruising and not have every cop looking at me waiting for me to take off. When Im on curvy twisty back roads, I dont want a corvette with its massive tires darting around looking for flat patches of pavement to grab hold to. I want a car with a suspension thats designed to work with roads not perfectly racetrack smooth.

Im not wearing BMW tinted glasses, but in every test with a corvette, its proven to be most worthy on a track. Not even considering straight lines either. So Im not knocking the Corvette by any means as a supercar for the price. Its just not real world friendly. If it were, you wouldnt see so many z06 deserters on this forum with 335's now.

The ZO6 is not for everyone. Interior sucks, and most people have a negative canotation to American cars in general. I for one have a tremendous amount of respect for this car because of its sheer power, performance and history.

But anyway after reading this post you made I can see you're not totally biased. However you're actually wrong about one thing. The truth is the ZO6 beats an M6 in straight line performance in the real world. M5boards have put them against each other with the Corvette basically raping the M6. And with the new power givin to this ZR-1, there is no way in hell that an M6 will be able to even stay with it on track or on normal roads.

I would say this though. If comfort is more important to you, buy the M6.

I maybe wrote it wrong but I would never think the m6 could take the vette in a straight line or in any performace test for that matter. I have high respect for the vette, its remarkable engine and its formidable history. I just think its TOO much for the street. Yes, you can beat everything off the road with it for half the price of a 997 turbo. But unless youre at a track, its wasted because it doesnt have enough "real world" driveability. I would say the same thing for a viper. Its an extraordinary machine that I was lucky enough to be able to drive once. That also just doesnt belong on the road, its hampered by its true intentions of being a track monster.

I wasnt trying to make this a debate on american muscle vs. euro engineering. I am an enthusiast of all makes and models. I can honestly say that when the challenger srt-8 comes out, I will probably finally sell my M3 for it. I think the "Cuda/Charger" coke bottle design was/is the most beautiful menacing vision ever created for the road(besides a ferrari f430).

I agree with you, in terms of overall "comfort", the M6 and the Z06 are 2 different things just as from a performance standpoint the M6 and Z06 are 3 different things. Unfortunately, you have to pay about $40K more for the M6 to get that comfort.

Most of the Z06 deserters you've speaking of are C5 Z06 owners, not C6 Z06 owners. The C5's and C6's are different from a overall comfort, power and build standpoint. A stock C6 will run dead even with a C5 Z06 and they are built better from a "road manner" standpoint. The C6's are a much better overall product then the C5 just as the new M3 will be a better overall product then the E46 M3.

I am not disagreeing with you at all on any of your points. Also, from my understanding, GM redesigned the 08's interior of the vette to a much more civilized status. I am very excited to see what theyve done to revamp the poorly designed seats and lesser quality of materials. Unfortunately, Im worried about the next redesign as I think the C6 is gorgeous. I wonder what direction they will take it in.

The new 4LT interior decidedly does not suck. It's hand stitched by a very high end interior company, that also does Maybach and a few other exotic brands I forget.

Wow really... So no interest in the new M3? How much is the challenger SRT-8 going to be BTW?

Mid-engined, the c6 is the last of the front engined 'Vettes, at least for awhile. OK, so that's the rumor anyway
