When I saw the pictures with the plenum off, I thought, eh so far so good, I could handle that. Then the next picture is where you lost me. Wow that is a lot of parts that has to come off!!

Patiently waiting for videos!! Thanks for sharing Wayne, and congrats on a successful install

When we had had the lights, bumper and other front parts off they told me that I could remove the front clip without removing the radiator. I absolutely didn't believe that it was possible. It turns out you can - not easily but it is possible. You can take the fan out too without removing much at all - that was another surprise. There is one screw, one connector and two tabs to move. Getting it back in was tricky though and I did break the top of one of the clips - oops.

I wasn't expecting all that much coolant to come out when I disconnected the top radiator hose but at the end I had to add 3/4 gallon of coolant/water. No wonder I needed so many towels to soak up the coolant all over the floor.

If anyone is in NYC and wants to see it let me know. I love my car but it is no show car so be warned. I don't have big brakes, fancy wheels or frozen paint - it is my daily driver with two kids seats in the back. The bumper isn't quite on right and the hood needs to be adjusted because I just wanted to finish last night and didn't feel like dealing with those.

I don't care about any of those things - it is fast as hell and that is what I wanted.

Hopefully I will be able to take it on the track soon to really enjoy it. I am a BMW CCA instructor but I haven't been to the track in a few years since my 2 kids were born and back then I had an E46M3 (Phoenix Yellow!). Kids are great but they take up so much time.

Congrats and best of luck with the new kit! Too bad it took so long to install.

Enjoy in good health!

I work in the city and would love to see if you're ever around weekdays. I have two kids and my car will be used the same way yours is being used.

Thanks.

That's a pretty serious install, Wayne. Major props for tackling that yourself and congrats man. Glad you're loving the new power.

Great update, but since I'm so selfish, I WANT MORE, haha!!

I say remove the re-circulation hose and let those two by-pass valves make some BAD@$$ loud noises!

Can't wait for more and more and more!

What would anyone like videos of? Just the engine running and revving? I don't have a GoPro so I can't make one of the cool acceleration videos.

I will take one showing the kit up close and one of it running and post that today.

Great job op. is it just me but all the evolve parts seems very high quality. I would like to hear a video of it revimg up a bit. Is it 3 by pass valves or 1 by pass and 2 blow off valves with sleeves.

Revving and idling of course, but also launch and drive-bys if you can

Hi,

the parts are indeed of a very very high standard. The majority is CNC machined aluminium. Only the boost pipes through the front panel are cast aluminium.

There are 2 40mm recirculating blow off valves in the system either side of the plenum. The silicone sleeves are part of the recirculating system which feed back into the rotationally moulded intake to the supercharger.

Installing an ESS kit is much simpler, I cant believe you had to remove the entire front of the car. I can't imagine what a shop would have charged you for this much work. Major props for taking on this challenge yourself and congrats on the new power. The M3 is a lot of fun with the added power.

The complexity of the kit is vital.

The 8 rib pulley system conversion for maximum belt traction for example is paramount.
The highly efficient front mount intercooler is another.

A shop would tackle this in a slightly different way as they have access to far more tools than Wayne had access to.

We do not completely remove the front panel here. We simply move it forward to make life a little easier to change the pulleys. Once that's done we slide in the intercooler and that bit is done and the front end can go back on.

Changing the crank pulley is no different to when people have under driven pulley systems fitted. No one removes the front end for this.

We could easily opt for a 6 rib belt system but this would reduce both belt traction and belt life which in the long run is more hassle.

With the limited tool types Wayne had and instructions which really are designed for a shop they did incredibly well.

Here are a few shots of the individual parts. They are indeed very high quality.

I wouldn't exactly call our tool selection limited - we have pretty much everything you could possibly need.

I can't see it being much less work because just about the same amount of effort is necessary to shift it forward as to remove it. Plus the trimming is easier when it is out of the car because there is no fear of damaging anything else.

Videos!

I finally had a chance and a helper today to take videos. I have the Evolve supercharger, Evolve X-pipe and a UUC/Corsa exhaust.

Start, idle, rev and exhaust:

Launch control (I screwed it up on the 1st try):

Drive-by:

The car was warmed up before taking the videos so we didn't start revving it right away. These were taken on an empty road near my office.
