DIY: Exhaust pics for the cheap

Sound clip coming up..

Excited about this new project.
My main concern was not geting any downtime as this is my DD car.

Purchased a spare stock exhaust for $100. Then I cut it, and wraped the perforated pipes with repair kit ($15 at pep boys). Found a local shop that would reweld it, paint it and intall it for another $100 bucks.

Just added the video..
I love the sound. it is more refined and not too loud. i was afraid it may be too loud but it is quiet enough and loud when you need it to be...
Great Mod...

Video is up now. I wanted to create a video that will create a clear sound before and after with enough scenes that make any one hear the clear diference between stages.
I think i captured that in the last 45 seconds of the video.

Thanks for documenting and sharing all this! Love the sound of this mod.

Do you think the repair kit will last? When I look up the repair kit, I see "temporary, short-term"...

I'm going to have a muffler shop replace my perf. pipe with solid, I think.

The repair kit is not exposed to the elements as if it was done on a pipe outside the chamber, so longevity may be longer. There is no rust on the pipe inside so I am not that worry about it. For the price I paid, I don't care that much about that. I would think the pipe replacement would be better. If it last over three years I will be happy. I may have another car then.

Talking

I got it in Marietta by the big chicken. You can get this from any auto parts store.i used the two inches straps that where about three feet long.

I hope this helps.

I still have the stock exhaust for a sedan. $150 picked up!

i've gotta find a local welder and I'll give this a shot myself. Finding a shop that will do this start to finish has been difficult.

No sorry.. I just wrapped it by hand. That stuff is a little sticky... I am sure with heat it cured and sealed the wholes.
It's been a while and it sounds amazing.. I did it and never looked back...
