Supercharger cabin noise

I want to ask a silly question. How much different a supercharged M3 sounds from a non-supercharged? Will I have any whisles and other noises from the BOV or other componenets? Or all of this will drown in Akra Evo exhaust note?

Does the level of additional noises (if any) differ depending on the level of boost/stage?

Basically, the question is would it become immediately apparent for someone in the car that the engine is supercharged? Apart from brutal acceleration force of course

I am more concerned about the cabin noise. Thanks

The idle is a little louder. The exhaust sounds a little deeper. I'm running an AA exhaust with no cats so it may sound different on a different exhaust. Most kits come with a bypass valve so the air recirculates. You can mount a blowoff valve if you want to hear it. There is a slight wine from the supercharger but I only hear that a low speeds. Usually the exhaust overwhelms that sound.

Exactly what he said. But. I'm running the akra and the exhaust is quieter than the engine so the supercharger whine and rotation I gearing is very notisable at idle. As Longbow mentioned Vf ess kits come with a by pass valve which audibly are hard to detect, unless under wot. Aa and gintani come with a blow of valve which creates that Turbo hissing sound when changing gears which is very loud. I personally enjoy the sounds my blow off valve creats but at the same time my car is orange so it's kind of an attention grabber (as they say all show and no go). From the outside at idle the supercharger is apparent to those with a trained ear. To others it seems like an engaged fan. I'm sure others more experienced will have more info to direct your way.

Oh now I see. I remember a guy doing some spirited driving in the paddock in a SC M3 and i heard a very distinct and loud noise from the blowoff valve. Although it sounded nice, I am glad that it is possible to go with a more civil bypass valve instead.

I am liking ESS so far from reviewing threads here. Before, all my mods were strictly track-oriented, but now my 398 WHP (all reasonable available bolt-ons to keep the engine NA) no longer excite me enough.. right now I am trying to educate myself about SCs, thanks guys for your help!

Both the ESS and VF kits recirculate expelled air to keep things quiet. BOVs vented to atmosphere can get rather annoying on a DCT car (especially on long trips), making your car sound like its having an asthma attack.

Feel free to drop by next time you're in town, or we can meet up at the next track event to experience in person.

That is not th best video for cabin sound as the mic is mounted on the mirror. The bov sound cruising is pretty subdued as there is 3 bov on the AA kit not one like other kits. The first one that is about 1ft away from the s/c dumps in the bumper the other two on the manifold help lessen the leaf blower sound the single bov tends to do.
