I have two, an Invicta Speedway and a Fossil Machine Silicone Watch. They do the same as any other watch and only cost a little over $100.00 each.

I put it on my wrist and i didn't like it. I love it in the case at the store but on my wrist I felt like LOOK AT ME!! I really like the same watch in black and white and it's still on my list for the future, but the Bond spoke loudest to me for now. Truthfully, who knows? I went with my gut

Here's a watch I am considering. Anyone know anything about Tourby watches?

Heard of them a few times, but beyond that I don't know anything about them.

However, on a cautionary side, skeletons are notoriously fragile (proper ones anyways, which this is) So depending on career and such, it may be something for special occasions only.

Neat piece, I like seeing different stages of wind on the spring.

This watch looks interesting,

http://www.bernardwatch.com/watch/ETE49

as does this one, I like the case, jointed where the band and case meet.

And if I had an extra 50 or 60 grand laying around,

that Eterna feels like a lot of money for an ETA, however it is unique, and possibly justifiable.

Both neat watches. I was working hard to get an Oris for a while, but I just had a hard time dealing with different dealers trying to get the one I wanted, so I gave up.

Have you narrowed your selection much yet for future watches? Or is it still growing?

Oh Man! I'm just spending inordinate amounts of time looking at watches, and saving money. I've opened my search horizons, now considering almost any style, and hand wound models too. Then there's my evil deep thoughts of dropping stupid amounts of money on a real tourbillon watch. That's a hard one though, spending more on a watch than my car cost, and also getting into dress style watches, when I'm a jeans and T-shirt kind of guy.

I'm kind of breaking my searches into categories. One is my big purchase, probably around 10 grand. Then there's others I'm looking at in the $1500-$3000 range that are very cool.
The less expensive might be an impulse buy, while the expensive one will be researched and saved for, hopefully bought around my B-day in April.

I sort of approach them the same way. the 1-3k are in abundance on the market. They can sort of be considered on the higher end of the fashion watches.

If you're serious about a tourbillon, do lots of research on them and see if the movement really makes sense for you. Some see them as an investment, and some see then as a non-necessity. This is why I jumped on the cheap Chinese one, it was justifiable to me. Anything more then a few grand for one would have been too much for me. I would rather spend that sort of cash on something like a minute repeater and other complications, but I'd still have a very hard time putting that kind of money into something that doesn't serve a purpose other then time. And this is coming from someone who lives and Canada and Owns a boat.... Can't use it for most of the year

I get into things, and usually go All In. That said, a tourbillon would be super cool, but probably not in my future unless I win the lottery. High end watches is a world that's too big and expensive for me to get too deep into (yet lol).

Too many cool things in this world. I still have more cool cars, more Italian motorcycles, more model gliders, a huge CNC machine, and a thousand other things on my "to buy" list, along with a girlfriend who loves nice jewelry, I'm screwed!

Lol, you sound like me... You like big boy toys. And you look for excuses.

It's not about what you get next, it's about how long you can hold yourself back from buying, right?

Pretty much lol.

I do like big toys, and finally I'm able to somewhat afford them.

It's a lot about the journey for me. I find something new, a new interest, and half the fun is learning, researching, becoming an expert, as well as executing the purchase. Some things, I find I lose interest in, or it wasn't what I thought it would be after purchasing, but the journey was fun and worth it. It's what keeps me going, a driving force.
I bought a crazy Porsche race car, a Pro race car, and found I couldn't campaign a car that needed a team to run, not to mention $2500 tire sets that lasted one weekend, but, I drove a crazy fast race car for a while, a lifelong dream that I fulfilled.
Now, I'm outfitting my 135i for autocross, something I know I will enjoy as well.
I still have my Bayliss Rep Ducati 998, and I will always fly model gliders. My friends and I fly composite model sailplanes, which hold the world speed record for ALL model aircraft at 487mph. Dynamic soaring. Soon, I'm getting a new glider that will be capable of over 500mph.
My biggest future toy will be a big CNC machine, so I can take my own glider designs, and other designs, and make them myself. This will be the key to my ultimate happiness.

I am very much enjoying my newfound interest in fine watches.

Can someone explain what all the numbers around the bezel mean? I understand the "1 through 12", and the date, but what do the other numbers mean? I see km? also the outer ring of numbers is confusing.

A Tachymeter is a way to measure speed, and a Telemeter is a mans of measuring distance.

How a tachymeter works is basically, get in a fast car, and in this case (depends if you can find one in miles or kms) Drive 1km at a constant speed (without knowing the speed) and if it takes you 10 seconds you're going 400kms per hours

30 seconds = 120km/h

and of course 60 seconds = 60km/hr.

They make watch bezels in either Miles or Kilometers. So often it can really depends where you buy the watch from. And as I import some from the states, they will be in Miles. I'm not bad at converting in my head, so this doesn't bother me in the slightest. Nor will I really ever use it.... But it can be used for calculations on long road trips.

I do a lot of road tripping, so I would look at my avg speed and compare it to the dial to see expected time per unit, and work out my arrival time. But, I can do this in my head, so it's just a decoration on most Chronographs.

The outermost ring of numbers seems funny to me. The spacing between numbers is not equal. I get the concepts, just not how one would use the numbers as they are spaced.
