Tuning suggestions please

Recently pulled the trigger on the oem exhaust mod and have a custom x pipe made, I know it will trigger a CEL and I can get that coded but is an actual TUNE necessary? Big difference in power gains? Would love other peoples experience and opinions. thank you

I realize you're new here but trust me, you'll get a million results if you search.

You'll gain another 10-15 with the tune.

The conservative recommendation would be to only perform a sound mod, like the OEM exhaust mod you performed and stop there!

The x-pipe takes it that much further, into the "out on your own territory, if something goes wrong."

If you insist on modding, then an ECU block/code for the CEL may be needed when cats are removed. At this point, the question is, do I tune? Well, if you tune, add the xpipe and something fails in your engine and you are depending on warranty work, you may have trouble getting a repair done at some dealerships.

The sound advice is to stop where you are.

If you add the xpipe and need the ECU to ignore CAT issues then you can decide to code and tune also. Will there be extra gains with the new tune? Probably, my recollection is that there is over 10 hp difference from the tune after the pipes! Just remember you have to pay to play if something goes wrong.

The best choice for a tune is with a local distributor or dealer who can help with installation issues, or reversing the work if that is needed. The brand and or max power claims for your buck should be of lesser concern.

Ive had cars with both BPM Sport and Evolve STG II. I've also driven a car with ESS STG II quite a bit. There is not that much difference tbqh. Its pretty much which one is in your price range, offers the customer service you want, and the tune options you want.

My current car is running Evolve STG II and I'm quite happy with it. The only negative is they are UK based so you can't get in touch w/ people US afternoon normally.

If you've gone so far as to have an X Pipe custom made then why not complete the package with a good tune. I did a lot of research on the topic before I got tuned and BPMSport was an obvious choice. I'm sure other guys do well too, but I can't imagine someone other than Mike @ BPM developing a tune for my car - plus he answers my texts within minutes when I'm sitting in my car with a laptop connected and having a brain fart.
