Thanks for post this information. I'm tired of lugging around my 5DMKII. I'm looking for a small point and shoot that is versatile and has the same characteristic as my Canon. I wish the Sony were a cheaper.

I love your car, and hate you for posting pictures of it

I should not be spending money on my car as I'm going to upgrade my bike

At the price point I would take a look at the NEX5. Interchangeable lens camera about the size of the RX1.

But image quality just doesn't compare. I wanted a small camera that produces image quality at the level of my 5D's. if that's what you want, the rx1 is your only choice.

Cheaper would be the Sony RX100 ($650). Obviously doesn't compare with the RX1 or a full-frame DSLR, but a relatively large image sensor (1"), fast zoom lens, etc. A shame the front ring doesn't click, though, and how buried some of the options are in menus vis-a-vis DSLRs.

A little off topic
What do you use to calibrate your monitor? I just got a new 27" iMac (this is my first Mac and I am struggling big time with the OS) and the default profile sucks, it is oversaturated with terrible contrast. I am thinking Colormunki, but figured I ask you since you use Macs.

Also, if you dont mind sending me PM on the price of your OEM aero, I am in the market for a lip and I just cant make up my damn mind.

Thanks!
I use a Spider for calibrating my displays (though mine is an older model). I've seen other models for like 50 bucks, but don't have experience with them personally. I'm sure they all work fine.

I remember when I switched to the Mac. Took a good a good 6-8 months until it really felt at home. You'll love it once you really know ins and outs of it.

Yes, I'm proof that a great camera does not make you a better photographer.

Amazing photography as usual

Funny thing, your front brakes almost look smaller than the rear on that sideview!

Well in all fairness it is a nice lens (Zeiss) and a sensor from a high end DSLR. Just happens to be in a small frame.

Yeah, I should admit. I still shoot with my old 5D and over the years have gotten lazier and lazier to carry it around along with a few lens in a bag. I find myself shooting with my iPhone 5 now more and more and those images just aint worth a crap

Need to look into these new cameras..

I struggle with the same issue.

I had an SLR, sold it because I never took it with me. Then wanted to come back to photography so I got a NEX5, but the lens options and controls just didn't measure up, so I sold that.

Now I have a D7000 with a few lenses I love (17-55 and 12-24) but again, it's a lot to lug around. The RX1 intrigues me because I really like shooting wide anyhow and the 16mm presents an interesting composition challenge. But the lack of focal lengths might get frustrating for the more regular shooting (family, holidays, etc).
