Glad to see you had a lot of fun. That looked like a pretty small course, which is tough for our cars. Once you get to some of the larger events you'll really be able to open up your M.

It was a tight course. This was a Porsche Club event def set up for cars that can turn in like like 911's and Cayman/Boxsters. Even though it canceled the M's power advantage over a lot of cars there, I think I represented the M badge well.

Congrats! AutoX is addictive and relative low cost compared to HPDEs. As Raucky stated, an E9* is too heavy to be competitive on a course of that size, but don't let that stop you.

Hah, wait until you get out to a road course, that's a whole new level of addiction!

Good to see you are driving the car like it should be driven.

Yeah but cost per minute of seat time is higher for autox vs hpde

I totally agree the E9X M3 is too heavy for serious competition, BUT if you are a good driver, mod the car well for the class, it still takes a lot of driver skill to get every bit of ability out of this car.

this is exactly why I quit Auto-X a long time ago. lots of time and money invested by 1-2 minute runs 3 times a day for 2 days. now that i moved to HPDE, i will never Auto-X.

If I could do both HPDE (and I don't since the closest ones are 500 miles away) and auto-x, I would run in as many of each as I could. But for now, I'll have to be content with auto-x's.

It's a surprisingly fun car to dodge cones in, I didn't think I'd enjoy it as much as I do, very very good autocross car

+1. I never feel satisfied after a day of autox. I'm standing for 6 hours in the cold and end up driving for 5 minutes the whole day? No thanks.

As opposed to being completely exhausted and skipping the last session of the day because I drove way too much at an HPDE/track day.

Don't get me wrong...autox is a ton of fun and extremely challenging. It's just not worth my time/money over going to the track.

We had a couple of events such as these in my area and in my opinion, the driver is not really getting full potential out of M cars or any cars for that matter. I like HPDE better. Regardless, glad you had fun!

Track days will be coming this season. A good friend, and owner of a 996 911 turbo happens to be an instructor at Summit Point in WV. Looking forward to the experience of pushing the car near the limit in a controlled environment.

Sounds like you need to join a different group and find some high speed autox setups!!

Best way to learn the car so ling as the gates arent so damn narrow.

Looks fun. AX is awesome for car control; the best students come from AX to road courses, and already have a lot of skills that take a long time to develop at road course speeds/dangers.

No worries, I was trying to pick a spot to park that would be out of the way. I blew my transmission coming out of T2, bummer. That was my first time at Gateway.
