Carmax? 2 cars I like, opinions needed?
Anyone ever buy from carmax? They have 2 M3's available wanted to know what peoples opinions are. I live in Austin and there are basically zero M3's available here in this area. So Carmax will ship any car I want to the local dealer and I can preview and test drive, then decide which I want..
Here is the 2 cars. 2008 e90 M3 with 53k miles, AW/FR interior for $35k with tech and premium, and a 2008 e90 M3 with 56k miles MR/tan interior with same package also $35k. I would have to pay 500 to ship the AW from Florida, but when it gets here I can decide if I want it... The red one is in dallas and they will transport for free... What do you guys think of there deals, and have you ever bought from CARMAX?!! Any opinions would be appreciated! |

Well since there is no obligation, I would try both. One could be cleaner than the other or you may like one more than the other in person.

I bought my 2008 e92 m3 from carmax. It was such an easy process. I bought their warranty as well. The warranty starts the date YOU purchase the car. I paid around 500 for shipping as well.

FWIW, I love dealing with Carmax. They're great. They don't negotiate on price, which is the down side, but on the other hand, it takes that pressure off. if you like the car at that price, you take it. if not, you move on. Their prices--at least in my experience--are always fair. Pretty close to or at KBB value. Kind of like going to Wal-Mart to buy a car. It's so easy. They also have a pretty rigorous quality assurance inspection process, so you can be reasonably confident they're not selling you a car that doesn't work.

I recently purchased a car from carmax. I was very impressed. They are a well oiled machine with a well designed sales process. I liked that you can have a car shipped to the nearest location without obligation to purchase (free shipping within certain radius, you are obligated to pay for shipping outside that). In my case I had the car sent from VA to CA. I made the VA rep walk the car and point out any defects. I then had him email me stating it was free of scratches, dents, etc. That way I had a strong chance to get the shipping costs refunded in the event it showed up with damage.

Not sure but the logo on mine was a sticker that I removed in 30 seconds...

I found my ideal combo at a Carmax when I was car shopping but ended up passing on it because you can't negotiate pricing. Their prices are usually "fair" but higher than average. If you don't like negotiating or suck at it then Carmax is a good option. Otherwise you can get a better deal elsewhere.

>LOL. They do, but they're pretty easily removed.
Ok, not a biggie then. The M3's currently on Carmax are not really good prices, the two mentionned by the OP are gone. |
