Plastidip process

I dipped my car a while back but never cared to post any pics nor info because of luck if interest in the product. Plastidip is considered a cheap Inferior alternative to a car wrap. Well, I disagree. If have done several cars in plastidip and 3m vinyl wrap. When done properly it can deliver smith finish without runnoffs and texturizing for 1/4 of vinyl wrap cost. I won't get too much into detail as the whole process is available on YouTube but I will provide few pics and notes as we go along.
Firstly prep is the key. Plastidip is easily removable if the layer is thick and strong. But if you find areas that are indirectly covered (oversrpay)they become very difficult to clean up ie. vents. Grills. Rims. even though the process is simple- just rubbs off- but it's time consuming therefore we want to cover as much of those areas as we can. The prep will take about an hour to cover wheels. Vents, grills, and windows.

Once the prep is done, open up a gallon of premixed plastidip and fill up your paint gun. Any waigner paint gun will do. Simple to use and reasonably priced. The one I used cost 99 dollars at home depot.

Make sure the place is vented well but I do not suggest doing it outside as I found dirt dust and flies tend to land and make a permanent mark on the finish.

Here are pics between coats upto finished product.
Time between coats in about 15 minutes and the process allows for a quick reapplication because as you work your way around the vehicle by the time you get to the final side of the car the starting side is already dry. So therefore after few minutes to rest your wrist one many continue.
Total time spend 6 hours.

A while back driving on the highway I founds self fitting some unknown object and damaging the finish on the bumper and side of the car. What ever it was it was hard enough to rip through this. Thanks to plastidip I don't have permanent Scrathes in original paint.
Here are few shots of if before and after the first few costs. I did not take post repair pics because the damage is resprayed and non existent.

Here is what the car looked like before the first coat. It's really crazy how a single cost can change the glossy finish to a frozen black

I was thinking of spraying only my hood with plastidip to protect it on the track temporarily. Do you think 1 spray can of Plastidip is enough to cover my hood 4 times over? I'm not really concerned about texture or perfection, just that it's coated enough to protect the car for a couple days at the track.

Plastidip strength is based on compounding layers. More u spray on the stronger it becomes
