I purchase Osram CBH bulbs. They're newer than CBI bulbs and are the brightest and whitest bulbs I've ever seen. They look better than some LED setups. Just an fyi to the community. They were 200USD from TRS.

There is no heating involved. You can skip through every couple minutes of this video to get an idea of what I did.

Essentially, you create a silicone mold around the piece you are looking to cast by building a box, filling it with liquid silicone, and submerging the part.

Once the mold has cured, you remove the 3D printed piece, and you are left with a negative space that has the exact dimensions of the 3D printed part. You can then 'cast' as many pieces as your mold holds up to, by pouring in your material of choice.

Rubbers and plastics are rated by Shore strength. The material I went with has a Shore 00 strength of 90, which equates to about the density of the raised knobs on off-roading tires. You simply mix two liquids together, which then have a 'Pot Life' of about 20 minutes, which is the window that you can work with it before it begins to cure. 48 hours later, you have your parts!

It was a fun project. Unfortunately, after casting my 3rd set of aero pieces, I dropped the mold and it split in an unrepairable manner.

Thanks! It was a fun project, but I personally don't have anything special. My work has a community 3D printer, and everything else I used is easily accessible.

Once your pieces are printed, $10 in melamine from Home Depot, and $50 in mold making + rubber materials, and black pigment, and you're in business.

That's the part I wasn't sure of. Great thinking!

I got the one that supports front camera but didn't actually order one. That way, if I decide I want it, I don't need to replace the whole camera module. I do like the idea of having one though so I'm less concerned about hitting a curb while parking.

weather has been fine this past week, was sunny Tuesday and yesterday, and only started to rain today. Even I took my m3 out several times this week and I usually don't drive it in rain lol.

In my honest opinion, the roads are getting slicker every time it rains, in all our of cars I feel like they're all sliding, even in my dads Highlander which has brand new all seasons

Attempted to realign and clip in the side skirt with the wheel well, then realized why it didnt clip in as the clip itself was broken lol.

Replaced headlight bulbs on my dads highlander, doing intake filter next, with spark plugs on his car too.

Going to attempt and change the spark plugs on my moms Civic tomorrow, should be easy.

slowly learning at doing this stuff on my own, YouTube helps quite a bit.

Way to go Gary, you will find there is nothing you can't do (within reason) and you will be doing most of the maintenance on the E90. It looks daunting but it's actually a fairly easy vehicle to work on.

Got my mandatory annual Virginia inspection done. Free car wash. Then it rained before I could pick it up and get it to the garage.

Well said.

There are a few things the equipment I own simply doesn't allow me to do, namely a lift to competently do things like lower engine / trans work. But 90% of the maintenance and repairs on these cars can be accomplished with a capable socket and wrench set, a solid torx kit, and a set of ramps / jack stands.

I personally love turning my own wrenches. It not only saves me a truck load of money, but it's infinitely more satisfying.

Changed the spark plugs and cleaned the air filter. Debating if I should pick up the Quick Jack, it is on sale right now at costco. Very tempting...
