I too respectfully disagree with Vic311, the gear box on the m3 is nothing like it when I compare it to the smooth shifting of our still running strong e28 545is having 5 gears. Shifting the 535is is as smooth as it gets, nothing like the e92 m3 and I drove two MT m3's before I switched to the DCT. Something happen between BMW's MT between 1987 to 2011 - 2012.

My vote: Undersized tires. Needs 255/295 stock IMO.
True, Do you know if 295 can be ran on the ZCP 19" rear wheels?

Looking at the specs for the 295/35/19 Michelin PSS, the rim width range is 10-11.5". ZCP rear wheels are 10" (non-ZCP 19" rears are 9.5"), so technically yes at least for PSSes -- but that would be far from ideal. First of all, those tires would be so fat on those wheels that it would look like your rubber was enveloping your wheels. And second, you'd have a lot of sidewall flex with that setup, which isn't so great for cornering or (in the rear) acceleration. High sidewall flex in the front is bad for cornering and braking. You'd also be adding 3 lbs of unsprung weight to each corner compared to stock sizes, and if you didn't change your fronts you'd be creating an even greater bias toward understeer.

And actually, I'm not even sure 295/35/19 would fit in the rear without modifications. They might be too wide and/or too tall, in which case you might have to roll your fenders and/or switch to a lower aspect tire, like 295/30/19. Remember that the 35 aspect is relative to the width, so a 295/35 tire would be taller than a 265/35 tire.

Even on the stock ZCP set-up, I believe you can run Michelin PS2/PSSs (can't recall other tire set-ups off the top of my head) in 295/30/19. Don't take my word for it, though (mainly because I might be recalling this incorrectly, and I don't want to be held responsible for you purchasing the wrong set of tires); hit up the Wheels sub-forum and get reading!

I owned an s2000 for a few years. I think the flack that the m3 6MT gets on this forum is ridiculous.

Who cares about gas mileage its a performance vehicle, if you're worried about MPG you should have bought a hybrid.

That would mean you're running them on wheels smaller than the minimum recommended size. That's blatantly unsafe. Obviously it's your car and life (and of course the lives of your passengers), but I would strongly recommend you consider changing either your tire or wheel size choice. I'm amazed someone was even able to mount those tires to your wheels, frankly.

11,000 miles later of lots of hard driving and not a single problem. They always leave a little wiggle room when they make these "recommendations". I am upgrading to ZCP anyway on the next set in the summer.

My Porsche Cayenne has 295/35/21 on 21x10" wheels and they sit very squarely. The issue isn't the rim width, but may be the offset. I think a 295/30 on a 10" ZCP wheel with a 25mm offset can rub by just a hair depending on the tire. Ideal is 10.5" with a 27mm offset.

It's the only BMW I've owned where I've had to hunt rattles/creaks/squeaks. All the ones I've solved have come down to the use of materials (plastic on plastic or on metal) except the door seals.

I don't expect Bentley quiet, this car isn't in the same category. For $70k? You bet, I expect just a little more thought on the use of cheap ass of plastics (driver's seat assembly creak anyone, rear deck creak TSB???) as opposed to $2 pieces of felt for key areas.

#1 for me is the brakes as well, but agree that shedding some pounds would help a bit.
