Question regarding VF 540. Whats exactly needed to upgrade to VF620
I checked the VF-Engineering site and did a search. From what i'm reading, just an aftercooler is needed and is "easily" tossed into the VF540 manifold... I have an opportunity to get my hands on a 540 kit, but would like to upgrade, so i'm looking for specific details on what would be needed and the $$ needed to upgrade the kit. Thanks!

Around 5000 to upgrade. They had specials on recently fans to upgrade the kit wa 4800.
Best way To go about it. Or just buy a used 620 kit that is currently listed for sale.

5000 to upgrade?? really?? price seems steep considering the price difference between their 540 and 620 is a little over 5k

It's nice that there no loss on the vf540 kit when upgrading to a bigger kit is in question.

Until you factor in labor.

Of course, but we're talking comparisons.
A VF540 installed, then upgraded to a VF620 will cost more in the end rather than purchasing the VF620 outright due to the additional labor costs involved. The manifold is removed for heat exchanger installation, pulleys swapped. On the VF systems, the supercharger bracket must be removed for belt changes. You've essentially uninstalled 50% of the kit going this route. You can never recoup labor in resale. If funds permit, simply get the intercooled kit.

- Slide-in air:water heat exchanger - Front mount radiator assembly w/bracket - Factory grade water lines and fittings - Bosch water pump - upgraded pulley and belt - Custom VF-software flash (A new Hex Flash OBD2 Cable and PC program will be included for 2nd hand customers) - 1 year/12 mile warranty for the upgrade parts - Price: $5200 (difference from VF540 to VF620) We recommend the VF540 as our Streetsport system for drivers not looking for maximum power, but just a nice boost for everyday driving and that punch when the need calls . We recommend the VF620 or VF650 for drivers who use their cars for both street and track or those who are going for the high HP numbers. Most VF540 customers couldn't resist and have already upgraded to VF620 Sliding in the heat exchanger into your current VF540 manifold saves downtime and labor. ![]() Hex Flash cable: ![]() ![]() Let me know if you have any questions. Happy to assist.

so the Vf540 uses the same manifold as the VF620 minus the heat exchanger that can simply be added. To upgrade the ESS 550 to 625 the whole manifold needs changing.

The VF540 comes with a block-off plate in place of the slide-in cassette heat exchanger. You can see the plate below: ![]() VF620/650 manifold ![]()
