hobby level RC cars

Any 1addicts out there like to nerd out on some hobby level RC cars and trucks...HPI, Traxxas, Losi, etc...

I did several searches in the off topic board for anything related to RC enthusiast and came back with nothing. I was thinking we could get a RC thread going if there is any interest in it.

I have been into the hobby since I got my first hobby level RC, a Traxxas Stampede, for Christmas from my dad when I was 8. Since then I have had many RC trucks. I sold the last one I had a few months ago, a Traxxas Rustler VXL that I had wasted entirely to much money into. I now have the itch to get another one.

So, if there is any interest out there among you all, post some pics of your RC, comment, and discuss. Maybe it will help push me over the edge and I'll pull the trigger on a new RC.

I like traxxas, I have a revo and a jato currently. I haven't played with them in quite a while...I'm thinking about getting a couple 1/16 brushless summits to play in the snow.

I have a Traxxas 1/16 Summit brushless and Tamiya TT01 Type E upgraded to brushless and full metal bearings. This hobby can get expensive!

I hear ya man. I must have dropped at least $400 into my past rustler. It started life as a regular xl-5...then I put in a traxxas velineon brushless system and upgraded just about everything on the truck along with a few sets of tires...this is the reason I don't know if I want to get another truck because I don't need another money pit! lol! They sure are fun though.

I use to LOVE R/C Cars! Me and a good buddy of mine raced these back in the day.

I started with a Traxxas Bandit and modded the shyt out of that. Then found out about the gas powered R/C cars and that blew my mind. I had a Team Associated RC10GT, Team Losi NXT Graphite Plus, HPI, Tamiya, etc...

Then I found out about 1/8 scale cars!

Then the two speed tranny's came out and the RTR (Ready To Run) and the 50+MPH out of the box cars...

I eventually grew out of it, but LOVED racing them on tracks and competing.

I can go on and on but cool thread and sorry I don't have pics because that was almost 10 years ago!

Me Too! I used to race my 1/10 scale Tamiya Hotshot, then bought a Super shot, then a BigWig, then bought and raced an Avante. I won a few medals and plaques racing at the local indoor racetrack. They would change the dirt track every weekend so that no one would get used to it.
I raced A-Main Modified category
That was many moons ago but I've been thinking about getting back into it.
I've always been a huge Tamiya fan but Kyosho made some good cars back in the day. Optima, Optima mid

I have a SC10 and B4.1 WC which I race indoor and outdoor. I use to race all the time until I got burned out from traveling to big races. I do miss the sponsors though.

I'm a lifer. Been flying RC gliders for over 35 years. My friends and I fly dynamic soaring, where we hold the world speed record for ALL model aircraft, at 499mph. These are sustained speeds. Check youtube for "dynamic soaring" and you'll find a bunch of crazy vids.

I started racing RC cars almost 40 years ago, racing the 05 pan cars, with the red NiCad cells than barely finished races.

In 05 I was ranked 20th in the US is 1/8 scale nitro Expert Truggy, and I was a paid, sponsored racer, racing 1/8 scale offroad buggies and truggies.

I raced T-Maxxes back in the day, and built and raced one of the very first truggies out of a Kyosho buggy.

Presently I race 1/5 scale offroad. Just placed 5th at the Nationals.

For me, racing is where it's at. SOOO much more fun than bashing. Just playing around got old really fast.

I make my living painting the bodies for RC cars.

These days I don't race so much, just the big races. Got kind of burnt out and got into racing full scale cars and motorcycles.

Awesome! I've always been interested in boats. There is just no where around my area to use them.

Wow man, you got a lot of history in the RC seen. That's cool! I'll check the vids out for sure!

Yeah man, I have had some experience with nitro cars. I've never owned one myself, and the reason is because of all the trouble you seem to have keeping them tuned right. I have never raced my competitively. I just liked bashing. The lipo's and brushless motors seem to work well enough for what I like!

that and some top end brushless can and will keep up with nitros...I'm considering selling mine and buying another electric. I had some TT01s back in the day when I started to get into RC Drifting but that faded real quick.

Yeah, my vxl rustler would smoke my buddies 2.5 TMaxx. I've never done the drifting stuff. I just like jumping shit and driving crazy in dirt and mud. It brings out my inner child.

I had a Traxxas stampede for bashing around...off road are a lot more fun than on-road for sure.

Why did I read this...making me want to get back into RC, lol. I used to have a few nitro cars/trucks and a cheap electric every Christmas when I was younger. I just sold my last nitro car, the Schumacher Fusion .28. That thing is too fast, I haven't found a place yet to even hit 3rd gear in it.
