brake pad life

I have my second track event coming up this weekend and Roebling Road Raceway. Last event was about a month ago at RRR and since then I have flushed the brake fluid and checked my brake pads (which are still stock ones).

The brake pad measurements were 11/21mm on the fronts and 8/17mm left on the rears. My question, is this enough brake pad for my event this weekend that will be six 25min sessions?

I have been debating whether it would, and if not whether I should bring an extra set or just go ahead and change them out b4 I go..

and then there's always the question of what pad to use when I'm still new but plan on doing at least 6-8 more events this year. Should I get something like the StopTech SPs or go for a full on race pad?

Get an extra set. I run pagids now though I didn't have issues with OEM pads for light track duty, but that could be track dependent.

Did you take a measurement before your last session at Roebling? I'm very interested to see what I can expect for lifespan out of the pads.

I'll be up there this weekend (in a rented 944). Got my production number though, the summer can't come soon enough!

I subscribe to the philosophy that when you start debating brake maintenance...stop yourself and just err to the conservative side.

I also like the theory of building a stock of "useable" spares vs. "worn out" spares. In your case, just get some track pads and put them on now and roll back to your oem after you don't have a track event on your schedule.
