Offset help - Bridgestone RE-11 - Front 275/30 & Rear 305/30
I'm looking at purchasing a new set of wheels, and just needing to finalise sizes/offsets.
After trying a few tyres on my 135i, I really want to see if I can run the Bridgestone RE-11 on my M3 as I really enjoyed the dry grip, and with a supercharger planned for the future want some good rubber. I am lowered on the KW Sleeve Over kit, and was planning on the following: Front: 19x10 - 275/30/19 Rear: 19x11 - 305/30/19 I know the RE-11's are a fairly wide tyre, but seem more rounded than a PSS or AD08. What offsets would you recommend? I have searched quite a but and have been thinking: Front: +26 Rear: +29 Wondering if anyone has experience when using RE-11's? Thanks Michael

The re-11 is much more square than a pss. Pss is significantly rounder than the re-11.
The re-11 is a much more capable tire on the track and very compliant on the street. I run stock sizes on my 1m making over 400 ft lbs to the wheels, and have good enough traction at the track and street. They do run wide though, a 305 re-11 is a huge tire... |

The most common offset I see used for 10" wide wheels in the front is et25 (offset that Apex uses on their 18 x 10 wheel). The only negative is that you need an et20 to clear KW clubsport coilovers. Since you have the sleeve-over kit you should be ok with et25 (I don't think the SO kit creates inner clearance issues - but I have never had them). Be prepared to add some negative camber with et25 and even more with et20.
On the rear I have had et29 and et30 in 11" rims. That offset works well. I think you could technically go with something lower (volk re30's are sold in 18 x 11 et18 offset) but the 305's are going to limit you. No matter what you are going to be close on both the inside of the liner and the outside of the fender with an 11" wide wheel and 305's. It's going to come down to mm's. I don't think I would try an offset any higher than et30 because I have minimal clearance on the inner fender liner with 18 x 11 et30 wheels and Michelin PSS in 285/35/18 size. I had 20 x 11 et29 wheels, 305/25/20 pirelli p-zero's with eibach springs a few years back. No rubbing with that set-up but the RE11's run wider.

The front I'm just not sure about the KW's interferring. I have seen one thread where it was really only the 18's having the problem but no definitive answer for the Sleeve Over kit. Anyone else have experience with these sizes?

I had pss and switched to re11 on the same wheels in the same size.
The re11 run notably wider and are very square. That profile is (combined with stiffer sidewall) why they handle so well on the track. Cornering is amazing in them. IMO it is the best tire on the market for aggressive street driving and track use. Give em a shot! I will be back home from vacation tomorrow and will take a shot of my tires so you can see how square they are. Edit : below is an article including the re11 tires. Note the review and tread width relative to other tires in the test, including ad08. Re11 run the widest. They put the most contact patch down per size. http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/art...-tires-part-1/ |
