Dome light automatically turns on?

Almost (?) every time I pull into a parking stall, park my car, turn off the ignition and then the dome light (between the 2 round reading lights) comes on.

I don't mind it coming on if I open the doors, but if I'm just sitting inside the car and NOT getting out, it's really annoying to have to turn the light off every single time.

I've played with the "Welcoming Light" in Settings trying to turn this feature off, to no avail.

Is it because I have the light knob set to "Auto"???? I have a feeling someone is going to quote this last line and go "THIS.".

Please enlighten, pun intended.

Welcome lighting is exterior lighting that comes on when you unlock your car.
The interior lights come on as an exit aid when you turn off the ignition. This is normal and has been for many years on a lot of cars, not just BMW's.

In my previous cars, such light would only come on if the doors are open.

I suspect it has to do with me setting the dial to Automatic. I'll if the light still comes on if I leave the dial to OFF of just low beam.
