Epic. Truly amazing. And Harris is perfectly on point as always. Love that he spoke directly to the "purist objections" and did it in a very realist way. He really is one of the greats.

Just offer the option. I don't understand. You go from manual only 997 to paddle only 991??? Simply give the buyer an option like the M3, problem solved. It is so frustrating...

The bar has been reset. Performance, sound and revs to the stratosphere! Perfection in a car.

Everyone who is critical of PDK only will be going back on their words after driving this car. It is an absolute masterpiece of a car and the engine is a flat out gem like any GT Porsche engine.
I love DCT in my current m3 and this PDK is a huge step above based on the features and everything Porsche did to make it a perfect transmission for it.

Understood. I love manuals as well. However, with the 991 gt3, the E-diff would be lost which is just one item in a long list of favorable updates with this car.

As much as I DO love a true stick; very much so with my 2010 gt3, I have to say given the choice, I'd very likely pick PDK-S on this car, with the rpm ceiling, extreme eagerness to rev, very close ratio seven speed/no over-drive, < 100ms shift times, etc... And, I am not a PDK guy in the normal Carrera.

Agreed. I know all too well that pure acceleration with these cars is not what they are about, but have you seen what the 458 does to a 4.0L P-car in a drag race? Let's not kid ourselves, we all like brutal acceleration. It's not like the F-car isn't exactly a corner carver either. That said, the 991 gt3 is gonna scream.

Totally agree. The RS 4.0 is fast but just isn't a 125-127 mph trap speed car. Just looking at the fact that a 991S with PDK traps 120 mph with only 400 hp and the 997.2 Turbo S trapping 130 mph (faster than the 458 even) shows exactly what a monumental difference a transmission makes.
The GT3 has always been fast, but more focus on cornering. Now you get the brutal acceleration and you can tell by Harris' drive that this thing is going to devour corners like no other. But you know this thing going to accelerate like a 550-575 hp. I overall think it will just be a better street car too. The suspension geometry on the 991 chasis is second to none.

This will be coming to the M3 someday too... the manual clutch pedal transmission is on its way out whether some of us like it or not. First Ferrari, now Porsche. It may take some time but my prediction is that within 5 to 10 years, finding an old school MT on a performance car will be VERY difficult. The sales of MT cars is becoming just too small to make it profitable to development and integrate into new cars along with a DCT option.

It is unfortunate but it is going to happen IMO.

Now since it'll be automatic only, we'll see more buyers therefore more of them on the used market! Maybe I'll see more than one per year on the street as well....
