Airbox question any replies would be appreciated

Im sure this has been asked many times but im new to the forums.

Am I loosing or gaining power by eliminating the top of the airbox?
Any suggestions to modifing the airbox? is it even necessary?

current mods : Dinan 4.6L, Dinan 3.62 diff, Dinan freeflow exhaust, Dinan airfilter, Dinan High Flow intake, Dinan Throttle bodies, Dinan Front/Rear break st2 kit, Dinan stage 3 suspension

losing power. the intake would be sucking in hot air from the engine bay

Stock air-box is a great design, no power to be made by eliminating/modifying it!
