Anyone have Fabspeed Hi Flow primary cats?

Supposedly no CEL, but do they also allow for proper "readiness" reading for OBD based emissions testing.

Had em on my old m3

1) threw cel

2) terrible fitment that was never fully resolved no matter what we did

Used to have it.

Ignore what they say about no CEL. 100% false. If you use their o2 extenders it will usually work. I have two sets here. Without them you are guaranteed to trigger the cat efficiency faults over time.

Fitment was not the best, but I'm not sure if it was my installation or the cats themselves. The drivers cat would hit over bumps. I got tired of that an bought a full akra.

The sound is totally different. The akra is much more low pitched, and the fabspeed was more raspy.

I liked the sound of both of them but the quality and fitment of the akra was far superior.

I have the Fabspeed HFC with x-pipe mated to a UUC Corsa axle-back and I love it. It sounds fantastic. I have the O2 extenders, and I have never thrown a CEL. I easily pass inspection in Texas. I went this route so I wouldn't have to refit the OEM cats each year to pass inspection.

I agree that fitament can be an issue - you need to hammer out the heat shield around the cats. This video does clearly explains proper installation:

Even if you hammer in the heat shield they still hang a tad low and will rub on bad speed bumps and such. I loved the way they sound. The only advantage of going with a Fabspeed setup is with the 02 extenders you can probably get by without a tune. I would prefer to have the cats in the secondary position as I feel there is less turbulence after the header that way. If you want to get a tune down the line I would pass on the Fabspeed and go with a testpipe setup or go with the cats in the secondary position.

I had fitment issues as well. Would not buy again. Mine has welds with poor penetration. Not what I would expect for such an expensive part.

I've seen fitment issues with other cars. I'm not ashamed to call them a horrible company

I wouldn't call them a horrible company.

I have Fabspeed headers/cats on my F430. The fitment was very good, but if I did it all over, I would keep OEM cats.

The Fabspeed cats threw a code even with extenders. Added the mini-cat and the code is gone.
