Is this a Decent Deal? Please Advise
Hey Fellas,
I went to a local dealer in Miami and got a quote on a new M3. They said it would take about 8-10 weeks to get here. I wanted to get some feedback from you guys. Do you think I should go forward on the deal? MSRP: $72,045 Sale Price: $69,045 Holiday Credit: $1,500 Final negotiated price: $67,545 |

I would get at least one quote from a board sponsor before going forward. I bought mine from Steve Thomas BMW and I don't know anyone who can beat their prices or service.

Thanks for the response. I know I can save a little more if I go with a board sponsor but it will be difficult for me to pick up the car at the Performance Center due to work. Regards.

Hard to know exactly how much you should be paying for the car because you have listed no options. However, 9% or so of the MSRP includes the markup. Going by that, you should be able to get the car for about 64.5K. 72K - 6480 (markup) -1500 (holiday credit) + 500 profit for the dealer = 64.5K |

With the holiday credit, I would shoot for $65,500-66,500. GL

Subtract your $1500 Christmas gift and add $500 to get exact figures. Then make an offer. Before doing that, suggest you contact this person for what may be a good deal: http://www.bmwdavid.com/ Good luck |

I haven't driven the M3 extensively....just a quick test drive at the dealer unfortunately. The 911 is great but it is a pain sometimes due to the road noise and extremely stiff suspension. I'm 25 so the M3 is more practical for me at this point in my life. The Porsche is a fantastic car but I find myself only driving it for joy rides rather than taking it to different destinations. Also, I got a great offer on the Porsche and since it is out of warranty I think it might be a good time to let it go. Its truly a tough decision for me though....there's just something special about the 911. Regards.

is that real for US dealers to sell a $70k car and only making $500 profit? I know lots of amazing deals going around, but it just seem not too realistic to me. If it was a 2012 they couldn't sell then sure I can understand dealers want to get rid of the car without making any money. Anyways, different country, different market. We Canadians stay being screwed by STEALERS
OP, good luck with your new car buying, I hope everything sorted out great and you get a nice car with decent price.

First of all, not all dealers will make that deal. Second, for those that do, I would offer this explanation. They want to sell the cars quickly to increase their return on investment dollars. Let's say, hypothetically, if they only have 70k to invest to buy inventory and they only buy 1 M3 and it takes them 12 months to sell it at, say, 1K profit, then their return on annual investment is 1.4%. If they, instead, buy two 3 series car for they same 70k, sell 4 of them during the year at a profit of $500 each, then they have doubled their annual return on investment to 2.8%. Make sense now? |

I am in South Florida, And its not a dealer from here someone recommended David's BMW on one of these forums so I emailed him and got a quote from him I'm not sure what state he is from. Do you think it's a good deal? I've seen other M3'a like this go for over $75K at other dealerships.

Sorry for the thread-jack, OP. If you spend a bit more time around here, you'll probably end up talking to David Aviles or Steve Thomas BMW. Good luck.

Also remember that 850ish/month will shoot up about 100$/month if you take even 1-2 of these:
Xzyillion + (for total dent/ding/cosmetic rim scratch protection, the clear coat is an after thought lol), rim and tire (VERY WORTH IT), tints, and extended warranty (debatable, only take if you plan to buyout), end of lease 5000$ damage coverage (the worst option, dont take). Just saying, get it as low as you can go, cause its going to shoot up at signing. Dont worry about miles, you can always buy more mid-point through the lease. |

OP that's an acceptable deal for both parties. God forbid a dealer makes more than $500 on a 70k investment people. Would you be happy with that from one of your investments, or would you want the maximum attainable on your money?
Also remember that a local dealer would benefit from a lower price because they will see a return from service/warranty work. Out of area sales are not beneficial to the selling dealer. Not to mention as the car nears its production end, prices are likely to hold higher than before. Since the M3 will not be available for some time until the next generation goes into production. Just my .02 |
