► APEX | Official Wide 17" ARC-8 Group Buy | Let’s do another production run!

APEX Wide 17x10” ARC-8 Group Buy

After trying to run a deal for both 17x10” and 17x10.5” wheels with mixed results, we found it was best to launch a separate deal for just the 10” wheel which was by far the most popular. This deal’s objective is to bring back an out of stock size. It seems like it’s popular enough to bring back, but only your participation can prove it.

Compared to the original deal, the participation requirements of this deal are now just half of what they used to be, which means reaching big discounts is now twice as easy. We will likely just produce 2 finishes just like last time, so be sure to select backups.

You have two options for how you can participate in this deal:

Receive 100% of the Group Buy Discount Achieved

Pledge to buy one full set (4 units) of 17x10’s

Receive 50% of the Group Buy Discount Achieved

Pledge to buy only a pair of the 17x10’s. You can either add a pair of 17’s we already offer to complete the set, or you can just grab the two wheels. This is great for those of you who only need 2 new wheels to complete a set, or who don’t want to run 10’s square. This is a great way to pick up a staggered set as your add on wheels still benefit from free shipping.
The purpose of this Group Buy is to bring back discontinued sizes. In order to do this, we must hit our minimum production quantity of 100 units per size. Additionally, the minimum finish quantity is 50 units per finish. It’s unlikely that both the 10” and 10.5” sizes AND all 4 finishes will be produced, so you’ll be ranking your size and finish preferences when you sign up. We’ll calculate which ones are popular enough to produce for this Group Buy once we’ve tallied everyone’s preferences. Pledges counting as 2 or 4 units will go towards the 50 unit finish minimum and 100 unit size minimum.

The Feeler phase is a no obligation sign-up period used to formally measure interest. You’ll return to change or confirm your selections during the final Pledge phase. If you’re desired size/finish is not produced then your order will be cancelled and you will not be charged. DO NOT sit back and wait during the pledge phase for your desired options to reach enough interest. This is a small enough deal that every member counts. Waiting to participate will only create a cycle that will ensure your goal is not achieved. Take a minute and get your pledges in.

What’s different about our Group Buy?

Joining Group Buy deals via forums is traditionally a manual process. Since our deals have grown so large over time, we are working with a new tool to organize these deals in a single, well organized location. This deal is entirely managed on GroupBuyParts.com where you can pay, follow, and even discuss the deal’s status. This Group Buy includes the extra step of ranking/voting for your preferred size and finishes. We’re only going to produce and offer the sizes and finishes that are popular enough to meet the minimum 100 wheel production requirement. We may end up making one finish, or we may end up making all four. It all depends on how many of you participate.

How do I participate?

Visit the official Deal Dashboard on GroupBuyParts.com. From there, you can show your interest by joining our feeler list. You’ll receive an email reminder when the deal officially opens. When the deal is live and accepting payments, you can complete checkout and pay for your order from the same page. All product details, member participants, and discussions can be found on that Dashboard.

What if I have some questions?

No problem! Just contact us at groupbuy@apexraceparts.com. Please avoid sending us Private Messages as they do not automatically go into our ticketing system and will experience an extra delay.

We've extended the Wide 17” ARC-8 Group Buy "Feeler" phase until February 28th. This is necessary as not enough members have shown interest to unlock the first discount tier.

So far, enthusiasts have shown interest in purchasing 88 wheels, and in order to ensure the deal's success we will need to gain more interest.

We also can see that many of you have selected the highest $200 off discount tier as your Minimum Required Discount (MRD). In order to unlock that tier and officially count you as “On Board”, we would need more than double the current interest level.

If current interested members select a lower MRD tier once the payment phase opens, the chances of this Group Buy coming to fruition will be much higher. Remember, the MRD is not the discount you'll get. The MRD is the absolute minimum discount you'd be willing to accept in effort to get the wheels produced. You can absolutely select the Free Shipping discount tier as your MRD, and still achieve a higher discount if those tiers are met.

Let’s finish strong, and bring back the wide 17” ARC-8 wheels!

This deal is going to fail because the participation levels needed in order to make two separate wheels is too high. The unpopular wheel is dragging down the success of the popular wheel. Our solution is to create a new deal for the popular 17x10” ET25 wheel with a much more favorable discount structure.

Check out and join the new deal HERE.

Based on the members from this deal there are already enough people interested to reach the maximum discount, so we’ll be hosting the new deal for less time.

We did not see enough demand for the 17x10.5” wheel so we won’t launch a deal for that size at this time. We may try to bring it back again in the future.

I am suddenly a fairly firm buyer and here's why:

The Continental ContiExtremeContact Sport is now (as of February 2017) available in 275/40 and 285/40-17.

It's an amazing tire and the only recently-designed new "true" street tire in these wide 17" sizes. And the tires are 25-26lb each at $170 a pop for the 275 or $200 for the 285, for a $1900 setup that's lighter and less likely to bend/break wheels thanks to the sidewall than just about any high-falootin' Volk or whatever 18" situation, and the 285/40-18 will even fit up front with some rub tolerance (same basic setup as a 285/35-18 on a 10) .

So...I'm in for two sets. Can't wait to get some more sidewall and lose some more weight.

You guys might want to mention that tire on the group buy page, wouldn't want anyone to think these can be used with only DOT R's or the relatively sparse and crappy street tire options available up till now, the new Conti just came out and the DW was probably the best true street tire available in sizes suitable for these cars on these wheels, but the new Conti Sport is a big step up from that tire at around the same cost

Thank you for all the information! It will be very useful for our customers looking to purchase a set of street tires with their wide 17" wheels. Looking forward to your pledge once the deal goes live tomorrow
