Sorry to drag this up from the past, but anyone who has run a E90/2 at CoTA with a 6MT?
What gear did you get down to in 2, 11, 12, and 15? Just finished a race weekend there in my SRF and now I'm wondering how fast it's going to be in my E90!

OK, cool. So the shift points will probably be similar to my race car but the speeds on the straights will be faster to make up for the slow corners. Hopefully the BMWCCA weekend won't be littered with corvettes :-)

from what I see the m3 doesn't have enough horsepower for this track. Great track but suited for a more for a Cup car or of course F1, indy car.
I would usually never say this but a supercharged m3 would be great on this track. You guys have fun, DE has too many rules for me, ![]() |

Only the long run down to T12 and the front straight are boring. T10 to T11 is short enough and usually you are setting up a pass. Even with more power, a long straight is still not that interesting, it just makes you spend more money on brake pads

I just had my car serviced yesterday and had them fill out a tech form for TDE and I should have had them fill out this one too! Will have to drop by there on Friday. |

Hopefully its not raining this time.
I heard there was a lot of carnage during the PCA club race/DE among the club racers. Then irrepairable wall damage ended the weekend early on Sunday. Let's not hope that is the case with BMWCCA. Looking more and more like this will be the last DE at COTA for a long, long time. The odd thing is the one DE in the rain (TDE) had 3 minor issues...all breakdowns. All of the dry DEs so far have had more than a couple of cars in the wall.

COTA's main concern was/is the track getting torn up. And it sure is getting torn up with (I think) 7 incidents of wall damage between MVP and PCA over 5 days. Even the Rolex race did less damage.
Remember the whole drama over x-mas with the DEs being on/off/on/off/on again? The story I have heard is that most or all of the COTA ownership knows very little about DEs and have very little interest in anything amateur. Before everyone goes into the COTA is screwing us hissy fit...they DID build the track for a single purpose. F1. So the story continues...a higher level manager at COTA who is familiar with DEs made the case and got COTA ownership to agree to run DEs (not sure if club races fall into this category) on a try and see basis. THIS was very clearly communicated at the Driver's Edge event that everyone was to be on their best behavior. Things went exceptionally well and management AND ownership was pretty happy. At one of the DEs, let's say that I saw the high level manager's face (same guy who fought for us DE'ers to run at COTA) bright red with an obviously pissed off look on this face. My guess is that its not looking good for us DE'ers. By far the most annoying aspect is that it seems like DE orgs and drivers from far away come into Texas and aren't respecting the track or the opportunity being afforded to us. So I'm hopeful since this BMWCCA event seems to mostly be Texans...a very good thing. I guess the racers will be the big x-factor.

Ok I remember the spill giving at the DE event you took me to at COTA and he expressed caution many times over and over again to the drivers. Well organized event I must say for having a huge turn out. It went smooth. I think that should be taken into account for future events especially with DE events. They were experts in organizing the event and making sure there was no accidents and I was just a groupie that day. ![]()
