Pagid RS-19 Bedding
OK. So I decided to give stock brakes one more shot, this time with a set of Pagid RS-19 pads. I just got a set from M-World and was reading info on pagid website and found out some interesting points. Bedding procedures is very different from what I have seen before (attached). Those who have bedded these pads before, please comment on whether you followed this procedure or some other.
This link has more very interesting facts, IMO. http://www.braketechnology.com/techinfo.html PS. Also, I noticed that on the picture of a GT4 that I took during my visit to Welt last year, BMW installed a set of Yellow endurance compound Pagids. ![]() |

Pretty well that is how I do the bed in.I usually try to do the procedure on the way to the track on less traveled roads
When I have tried to do it at the track I do not seem to be able to get a good transfer layer on the discs and end up with pulsations thanks to uneven deposits on the disc. |

Yep, when I installed my RS29s I followed the bedding instructions as closely as possible on some back roads.
Brother successfully bedded his RS29s at the track. Doing this is dependent upon the layout, and having the place much to yourself..

Great choice for pads! Be ready to rebed them though every so often. When you get the squealing, you'll know.

![]() This is what I thought too when I read their procedure. So what I did was basic bedding on the road before driving to the track. Still, instead of 90-50, I did 80-30/75-20 which yields about the same kinetic energy reduction. The 110-50 I do at the track during the first 2-3 laps.

Good luck with the bedding. I typically did consecutive (medium pressure first, and gradually higher pressure) 80 mph to 5 mph on my car until I saw smoke coming out of the front wheels. You will also see a gray transferred layer. Be safe

I'm afraid I used the more classic procedure a la Stoptech, but with the speeds increased to accommodate the material of the Pagids.
I'll definitely try the Pagid way, next time. BTW if you don't mind, where did u buy the Pagids?

ive typically used the slower stoptech version or my own. several brake applications from 40-5 then 60-5 while upping the pressure used each time. maybe i need to really smoke them like richard and gearhead. will bedding get rid of the squeal? thought that was just part of the deal.

Also, OP has mentioned that there is a group buy for these pads. Can you give us a link? Thanks Just found that link. Asked you to add me to GB list for RS19 front/rear OE calipers

Good thread. I'll pitch this in as no one has mentioned it yet: After you do the medium and then hard brake cycles, make sure you allow the rotors to cool for a good time but keep them turning. After I finish the hard braking cycle I drive at 60mph for about 20 to 25 minutes as I try to do my bed-ins on quiet highways.
Edit: love Pagids, my personal stinky opinion is that they modulate better than PFCs.

So what's the difference between the 19 and 29 compounds anyway?

Here is the friction graph.
RS29 has slightly more initial bite compared to 19. But unless you are a pro racing driver, you probably won't notice any difference. Sometimes it's just Germans being Germans. ![]()
