Wonder what BMW is working on :)
Looks like the Benz boys are working on a Joy Stick Model (see photos below)
You drive this car with a joystick Do you think that you can drive with a joystick? Your kids and grand kids can. The influence of video games in our lives has really arrived, wouldn't you say? But there is more! The SCARY THOUGHT is: NOW a 3-YEAR-OLD can STEAL your car AND DRIVE IT BETTER THAN YOU CAN ! Yep - Start checking the senior bus schedule!!!!

No clue how you would actually operate that, unless either a) the control detaches/extends or b) you're meant to straddle the two seats.
That also looks like a "future concept" made in the early 2000s, not something current. |

Probably a self driving car... looks like the controls are only to supplement the self driving... my guess anyways.

there seems to be a second joystick on the door side too, so maybe it drives like a tank where each stick controls the wheels on the corresponding side

The middle joystick looks like its designed to be usable by either driver or passenger. Imagine, two people driving one car. Imagine if your wife could directly control how you drive! The horror!
