BPM tune experience

Sorry for the troll thread earlier - here are some more details on how it went.

So I rolled up to his place on Friday morning since I went catless in my new setup. My most important thing was to have my CEL light to remain functional and enjoy the subtle changes that the tune brings. We first ran some systems test on the car and one thing that caught my eye was that my maximum redline reached was 8533rpm. I thought redlines were 8250-8400rpm (shows how much I know). As he was building the file, he gave me some options, redline upped, speed limiter removed, etc. I chose to keep those settings intact in case I went to the dealership and they saw that I somehow got to 9000rpm (its an ap1 s2k transplant sir). The options I got were redline at 4500 when the car is cold (looks strange on the dial) and remove cold start since there are no cats to heat anymore. I asked him a lot of random questions and he was happy to answer - even though I might have sounded like an idiot

I also had the servotune and asked him if he would throw in the code that keeps my angel eyes bright when headlights are turned on (since mine are piaa jdm hello).

We then took a spin around the block. I felt the servo tune immediately leaving the driveway. The ECU was learning and adapting and I could feel my hard pulls get better and better on each pull (very subtle not 1039478 hp increase).

My setup is a catless with POS exhaust which sounds awesome and makes the car much more enjoyable now.

If you want to talk about how another bpm reviewer got paid to post, put it in my other thread called TUNED.

Lets here the other bpm tuned guys chime in.

Again a happy customer with the BPM tune and the great work of Mike Benvo
Is your car MT ? because i have the BPM DCT upgrade coding and the shifts are very smooth, fast, and powerfull now, in S 4-5-6 mode it give's you a kick(pusch) on you'r backside (butt)
And yes...the Servotronic coding feels amazing !
BTW...it's a shame that a person (Mike-Benvo) who lives for the ///M3 is banned for 3 months

BPM is indeed a very nice tune & really makes the car come to life, I purchased the stage 1 tune along with servo & dct tune & I love it!

Actually this morning was the first time since the BPM tune (Stage 1, MT) I put 4 gals of 100 octane racing gas mixed in with 91 for the rest. Let me tell you the car was amazing and felt incredibly smooth/powerful. In fact on my early morning drive in the curves, I usually keep it in 2nd and move to 3rd occasionally depending on speed of straight and turn, but with the racing gas and BPM tune, I was building so o much speed and momentum that was helped by the servo changes that made me drive more confidently, so I was in 3rd gear almost the whole time. Racing Gas + BPM tune + Servo = amazing combination.

Yes i believe since our cars adapt to octane as well with the tune plus 100 it would be that much better.

Where did you get 100 octane locally?

I can get shell 100 OCT in Germany but it's at the economy price so I don't. I will have to give this a shot. I am sure he can work up a file for higher octane.

Do our cars really adapt to octane? Sounds a bit far fetched, I am not trying to be an ass. I am really curious about that. Is this incorporated with the VANOS? I have just always thought that a car is set for a certain octane so putting a higher octane doesn't really make a difference. I am sure if he made a higher octane map for you it would be a huge difference.

Yes it took about 5-10 miles for the car to adapt but felt better as the drive went on. Supposedly mixing to 93-94 octane is sufficient to hit timing targets (I haven't tested this with datalogging yet). With 91 octane, I get close to timing targets but is still off by about 1 degree above 7,500 rpm. Subjectively, engine runs much smoother and feels like generates more power. Will have to use my BavTech and DashDyno tools to check out timing and calculated power differences.

You just made my day! I'll be filling up on the way to work tomorrow.

One of the things I really noticed moving from the UK to California was that my car felt much less responsive on 91 octane.
