Macht Schnell Intake Install ?
I am going to tackle the install tomorrow morning on my 2009. I have watched the DIY video and it shows you replacing the air filter adapter "nubbin" bit in the airbox but doesn't mention whether or not this is required on the 08/09 models, so based on the video I am assuming this is required for all model years? Previously I was under the impression this was not required for 08/09s.
Interestingly, I watched the air filter only DIY video and it does not mention replacing this part at all, although their website says if you have a 2010+ you need to replace it with the MS adapter piece. |

i replaced mine and I have a 08, I took the lower portion out and it was easier to remove the stock one and put the aftermarket one in

After a bit of searching I think I was able to answer my own question based on info from this thread: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...filter+adapter
The MS adapter is simply the 08/09 piece so there is no reason to replace it as it should be identical to what is already on the car. In 2010+ BMW went to a shorter nubbin and lengthened the filter by adding a small piece to the top (see above thread for photos). Other than these "nubbin" bits the 08/09 and 10+ airboxes are identical. Now if I could only figure out the power steering pulley torque spec so I can install my UD pulleys.. |
