Question about steering wheel feedback
So I'm not sure if this was always there on my m3 because I went over a month without driving it and when I drove it yesterday, I noticed that there were very slight vibrations coming through when going straight at any speeds with my hand firmly on the wheel.
I drove my van the other day and my tires are all out of balance so I know how that feels but it didn't feel like tires were unbalanced. The vibrations were very very slight. I was driving my f30 for a while and being that its much more numb, and going back to the m it felt like a huge diff. I can't remeber if they were always there and I'm noticing them again or if something is wrong. My rear tires are new but the fronts are almost gone, maybe 10% left at best. Would balding tires cause more vibrations in the steering or is this just road feedback? |

Yes, less tread equals less isolation. Put on new tires and it will be smoother. I however hydraulic rack from BMW does transmit more road feel. Drove 2012 z4 and smoother but less feedback from the tires

I had vibration through the steering wheel at around 80mph with worn front tires. Thought I needed an alignment, but everything was nice and smooth after I switched out the tires. But you probably would have noticed any vibration before....
BTW, why so many 3 series cars in the stable? Do you drive all of them or are they family member's cars. Last edited by sensi09; 12-24-2012 at 07:24 PM. |
