Extended Warranty

Any discounts for forum or BMW CCA members on extended warranties? The warranties offered through BMW seem extremely high priced! For what appears the to be the same coverage, I can get a 'bumper-to-bumper' 3 year/100K extended warranty (Ultimate TechChoice Plan) for my 2009 E90 M3 for approximately $3700 ($100 deductible) from Enterprise Financial Group, which is an A+ rated company by the BBB. By comparison, the BMW warranty would cost approximately $6K for the same coverage and terms.

Do you know if it is an exclusionary warranty? Bumper to Bumper is not as good. Do they pay the repair shop direct? Do they allow the dealer to make repairs?

I have seen some discounts here on the dealer level. I think I saw 3/36k for $4,700

if the car is still under the factory warranty, my dealer advised that its $3,100 to extend for basic powertrain (I don't have nav/i drive). The same price all over I'm told, and I emailed a friend in CA who quoted the same price. theres not much room to neg/

I did some more research and found a lot of negative customer reviews on the EFG extended warranty, especially regarding their claims department not paying for repairs on many occassions.

The BMW extended plans are very expensive, but are still dependent on your vehicle mileage and year and if you are still under the factory warranty. Here are a few quotes I have received from my BMW dealership in Houston for my 2009 E90 M3 with about 45,000 miles:

Powertrain Plus
5/100 $3040
6/100 $3560
7/100 $4210
7/70 3680

Gold Protection
GOLD
5/100: $4230
6/100:5100
7/100: $6350
7/70: $5500

Platinum Protection
6/100: $5740
7/100: $7180

All have a $50 deductible. The term starts when your factory warranty expires and the mileage is the odometer reading (not additional).

Hope this helps to all those looking at extended warranties.

Another thing, you have to get the Platinum protection to cover the navigation, iDrive, EDC, and MDrive.

Just got a new M3 hardtop convertible, nav system, convenience pkg. It seems to me that the extended coverage is worth it - I haven't bought the 7/70000 coverage yet but plan to mainly based upon the complex convertible system. Any experience with hardtop convertibles malfunctioing?

The only thing holding me back from immediately extending the warranty is my desire for a supercharger. Fortunately I have another year and a half to think about it...

Decisions decisions...

I just got the BMW NA PT+ 7/70 for a good deal less $$ by getting quotes from several dealers (any dealer can sell it). Shop around. My best deal came from GOLFFRR/Steve Thomas BMW in California and I live in Mississippi. Good luck.
