James, awesome looking project car. I'm curious about the gold heat shield tape...have you guys found it to result in measurable differences in intake/engine temperatures? seems like a great idea conceptually. Thx

Air intake at race speeds - minimal, but a tick here and there helps. The plastic is pretty good and the airflow rate there is quick, so not as big of a deal. The gold stuff is great for radiant heat though - protecting shock canisters from glowing headers, protecting fuel cells from mufflers, etc. We also use a second type of insulation at times that has some air barrier built in that is effective in some other applications.

Thx, nice to know. Hard to tell from the pics, but is the gold heat tape also on the bottom of the airbox? Have you guys also tested/seen any benefit of wrapping some/parts of the exhaust in exhaust wrap?

We have approached the plenum multiple ways with multiple materials, including all surfaces. Just not a really noticeable difference there.

We have done header wraps, coatings, etc. Probably the biggest benefit is underhood temps, which help shock absorbers, especially with remote reservoirs. We see minimal power difference, but protecting other components is important. Sometimes with our race tuning, the headers can get to glowing yellow or hotter, especially in warmup.
