GTA auto theft from homes by Organized gang

Organized gang targetting homes in affluent neighbourhoods...after doing their homework then under cloak of darkness break into homes with owners either out of town or asleep.
They ransack the bedrooms and kitchens, looking for car keys.
So far 24 luxury cars, including Porsches, Mazeratis and BMW had been stolen.

Detail of the story

http://www.citytv.com/toronto/cityne...g-of-break-ins

And some tips

When at home:
• If you have a garage, use it and lock it
• If you have a rear-wheel drive car, back into driveway
• If you have a front-wheel drive car, park front end first
• Always set the emergency brake
• Don't leave the ownership or insurance cards in the vehicle when unattended
• Drop business cards or address labels inside doors to assist with vehicle identification

And a quick reminder that if you have the BMW Assist subscription
There is a stolen vehicle recovery offer.
Make sure you call BMW Assist reponse centre right away so that they can remotely activate your BMW Assist system to locate your vehicle and hopefully help the police to recover it.

Home invasions / Stolen cars

Some great advice and I'm going to contact BMW about the tracking feature as well.

Not certain, but I do believe these thiefs worked in a team of three and just recently broke into a house in Mississauga and the house owner shot one of them dead!! I'm wondering if this is related..?

Who knows...but the Police said there have been no confrontations with homeowners so far.

And these are professional...caused they case your house and pick the right time...disable the home alarm system and when they can't find the keys to steal the cars, then they poach jewelry or electronics.

In the old days...you usually heard about thieves kicking in the front door and just did a quick grab and run...caused people usually leave their car key by a table at the front entrance or something like that.

But these guys actually take their time to case your house and stuffs...thats scary...
