Engine shudder at 1500RPM??

If I sit in the M3 when it is ticking over and then increase the revs to 1500RPM and then hold it there, I can feel a vibration through the car, almost as though it has a misfire.

Anyone else experienced this (or done this??)

Any advice welcome!!

Is this DCT? It happens to me when I'm in 1st gear starting to roll. I just make sure to shift before I hit 20mph. But if I gun it at 1st it doesn't happen.

It is a DCT car yes, but this happens when the car is in neutral

I sometimes get a very rough idle after starting up when the car hasn't been used for two days or so.. but nothing like what you described. I'd take it to a dealer to have it checked out.

I believe this is totally normal. I've had my car for over a year and its behaved this way from the beginning. I was concerned, so I went to my dealer and they let me sit in a brand new car on the lot and rev btwn 1400 and 1750 RPMs. You can feel the shuddering in the seat, throughout the car, right? I've also experienced the exact same thing in another e9x M3 at a track event.

I believe it is likely a certain frequency (like the 5th gear, 2k rpm with load, drone that BMW released a note about) at which the engine design has some resonance. Folks that actually know something about engine design can probably hypothesize here better than me.

My mate works for a local dealership and came home tonight in a new M3 (1,000 miles on it) - he rev'd it to 1500RPM and that also 'resonates' as well - seems it is a normal thing!

I might get him to aks the tech's for their opinion/explanation?

Old bump. Any new info in regards to this? Between 1500-2000 rpms in neutral my car shudders and feels rough. On accel from stop, anything greater than grandma driving and less than heavy accel can lag or buck specifically in this range as well (DCT). It's probably normal but if it could be fixed, I want to know about it.

normal, and been asked before, natural harmonics. My old m did it, and my new one does also.

I can't help but feel this is the cause of the well known bucking phenomenon though. That issue occurs only in this 500 rpm range with my DCT. I can easily live with it but it seems goofy.

I believe it is normal. I had posted a thread about this last month.
