iPhone 5 Charging...

I got the 30 pin to Lightning adaptor - the tracks play fine thru' the iDrive etc., but I noticed that the phone does not charge....
Is this a feature of this adaptor???

Mine works just fine. Never had a problem with the adapter charging and I use it in 2 cars. Audio quality is good too.

Knock off adapter?

Just buy the $19 Apple USB to Lightning cable, guaranteed to work!

I have 3 different lightning jacks and used both USB ports with no issues.

No issues with mine. Do think it charges a tad bit slower than with y cable but it wasn't great at charging before either lol

I think the question is speed of charge? Does anyone know the current(ma) output of the USB port?
My 2.1amp IPad lighter charger is clearly faster to charge the IPhone 5. Especially when actually using the phone, on a call, screen on or GPS...

depends on the car:

my 2009 with CIC but without combox won't charge it with the lightning adaptor (any of them) gives the this acc does not support charging.. but interestingly when the power is completely gone on the phone with just the charge icon it WILL charge it.
