Steering Wheel Vibration

Hi, (Wrong section, Thought I posted this in wheels and tires)

I noticed that at about 18,000 miles I had a steering wheel vibration between 70+ mph with the original continental tires and matt schnell spacers.

I had the tires changed at 23,000 miles to the PSS and kept the matt schnell spacers. The vibrations were really bad, worse than before. Anything about 65+ was a violent shimmy.

I looked up reviews and thought that it may have just been the spacers as some users said that the matt schnell caused vibrations. I ordered turner motorsports spacers and had them installed.

Now after they were installed I mistakingly thought there were no more vibrations, and it was very smooth.

This is where it gets strange... The vibration is still there, and it is anything above 75mph. However, it only vibrates for 1 mile at a time. It will vibrate from 23001 to 23002 miles, and then not vibrate the next mile 23003. Then 23004 will vibrate again. Every other mile vibrates. It's really weird because when it isn't vibrating it is very very smooth. What could this be?

Sometimes it can be the spacers and also maybe a weight fell off one of your wheels. It happens.

Hmm ok. Spacers can make it vibrate every other mile and not constantly? I figured spacers would make it vibrate constantly. Guess I could bring it back to the shop and have them check the wheel weights...

I just read the first part of your post and didnt see the every other mile issue. But check all your weights on your wheels. Spacers for me was constant so I ditched them and went with another set of wheels so I wouldn't have to use spacers. I haven't had any issues since. One weight did fall off (wheel not balanced) one of my wheels and I had a weird pattern of vibration. Went back to shop and put on the weight and problem solved.

Well, can't blame that on global warming. Process of elimination. Remove the spacer's, clean the hub, inspect wheels, reinstall wheels. If it's still there, get your wheels road force balanced. I had a weird vibration off and on at around 80 mph, it ended up being a slightly unbalanced wheel. I've never had an issue with spacers personally. Hopefully it's something simple like it was for me.
