Some areas were hit pretty dam hard, us in North Jersey - not so much. But we'll recover. On the lighter side, if you are from the area.. this was the funniest thing posted all evening:

I'm not sure I get it...
I'm not sure that I understand how some can respond in light of one of the worst catastrophes in many years... What we know is this: At least 38 dead... Over 20 American States have been affected so far... Over 8 million homes are without heat, power, lights or fresh food... Rising waters threaten many more... Next will come problems from putrid waters and rotting foods... This storm will cost all of us billions and many months to recover from... I'm proud of the ones who went to help...firefighters, doctors, nurses, truck drivers, military personnel, police officers, politicians across every divide...and many, many more...I'm proud to be an American... Perhaps what we need here is a sense that what affects one, affects us all...because each of us might know someone who is affected in this catastrophe. What we can do, is to resist turning this tragedy into something political...and instead find that place in each of us to assist in whatever way we can. That could be sending money to the American Red Cross, calling a local assistance agency and see if they have relief efforts in one of the affected areas. Perhaps just saying a prayer...perhaps just in this time of need, resisting the temptation to appeal to our lowest common denominator and finding something better... |

This is a really terrible natural disaster. So far we've heard of a great number of people who have been affected by this storm. Losses of life, huge amounts of damage to homes, businesses, schools, subways.
New York, New Jersey, Haiti, Jamaica, and so many more have been hit so hard by this hurricane. My heart goes out to all of those to whom this isn't just a bunch of news reports, but is real life at the moment.

Haven't had power for four days now and then I look at the people on the south shore of long island and in new jersey. Makes me feel spoiled to complain about something like that.
