Which splitters should I get?
Hey guys, I recently ordered a 2013 M3 and I would like to get front splitters installed. My question is, should I get the OEM ones and have them installed at port or should I just order the replicas from ebay? What complicates things is that I don't want to drill into my front bumper and I heard that the OEM ones require drilling.
Thanks! |

OEM FTW.
Install is simple, even a caveman can do it. You have have to drill one extra hole in each = two holes total. Don't cheapen a brand new car. |

Get the OEM, you don't drill in the bumper, only in the pieces under!

I would order OEM splitters. You could clear bra them and have your dealer put them on for you if you wish.

Go with OEM but I am not sure I would pay extra to have them installed at the port. When I ordered my 13 they were like $900 installed. You can get them from vendors here for around $500. They are a breeze to install. I just installed mine last weekend. All you need is a drill and some 3M molding tape. Feel free to PM me and I'll walk you through the install.

Probably get flamed, but, I ordered Chinese replicas off ebay and they worked out perfectly. Took them to the paint shop to get color-matched and installed them myself with no drilling. Nobody can tell the difference and so far they have about 10,000 miles on them. Paid about $150 for them.

My thoughts are that if you are going to paint them, then Ebay is ok. If not, you can tell the difference up close, and if you are OCD like most of us M3 owners, youll not like seeing the discrepancies in the CF lines. OEM look way better in my opinion... Go to McKenna BMW (one of our vendors here) and ask Marco for splitters, mirrors, and rear spoiler. Great deals to be had...

OEM - I didn't drill anything extra. Just one existing bolt per side, and 3M tape. No problems in over a year with them.

The eBay pieces simply fit terrible. Go OEM or Vorsteiner.
Vorsteiner does offer the splitters in 1x1 to match the roof weave.

I prefer the OEM route, that's what I have on my car.
But Mark's ebay splitter pictures posted above look pretty damn good for replicas! After all, they are on the bottom front of the car. A place where your 'investment' can go sour in many ways. So in terms of cost effectiveness, ebay is not a bad way to go as long as it fits ok.
