Tires are a little bit upsized at 255/35/19 and 275/35/19

With the Tires upsize, does that make any difference to the Tranny.
I know it's usually not suggested. However, there is a % that is acceptable. I don't know what that is and that is my reason for asking.

I also want to run some upsized tires and want to know this. Please advise and your reason why you went with the tire size that you did.

Thanks!

golffrr, positive iosn, img: thanks a lot !
valentino: Probably looks a bit smaller than in person in these pics because the tires are a bit larger than the stock ones and also because the car is not lowered.
Raja: The rear wheels + tires combination is about 26.6 in tall vs 26 in for the stock tires plus 19in wheels (only 2.3% taller) and the fronts 26.3 in vs 25.75 in (only 2.13% taller).
I wanted slightly upsized tires because I'm not a fan of the "rubber band" look (very low aspect tires), I wanted to fill up the wheel wells a bit, and I wanted a ride that was similar to the very comfortable ride (with the edc set to normal) on the original 18in wheels.

Looks like your front wheels are out of alignment. Maybe its just the pics though. I would suggest getting some spacers. It will really clean up the look. Other than that it looks great.

Your tire up-sizing is right on. The weight is very close to stock, and it is the sizing used on the new M4. I'll be buying the same when I replace the tires.

More rubber is good. I remember in my 86 E30 328e, I had a lot more confidence on rough roads because there was so much more rubber between the rim and the road. Bridge decks, potholes, pavement edges were never a big deal. That E30 was planted. You didn't need ultra low profile tires for it to handle. What's up with that? Now in the M3 I cringe when I hit something and watch the tire pressure monitor for a minute.

Needs spacers. I have BBS CH-R's on my GTR and they need spacers as well for the flush look.

The TECH, kchu, Philip, NoM3forMe: thank you!
Rob, Konaforever: Agree that spacers would really enhance the look, but am not leaning towards doing it.
4corners, the infamous: yes, the upsized tires look like they have some "meat" on them ..hehe.. and make's the ride is quite acceptable on Manila's potholed roads

Powerbeast, Cory, Jacobe: yeah yeah yeah....A drop would be very nice, perfect really, but I really don't want to junk the EDC, and I like driving it more than looking at it....

Springs do not junk EDC one bit actually. Get a set of Eibachs with e36 bumpstops; moderate drop and you still have full EDC functionality, everything is just a bit stiffer than before.

I agree that spacers and some springs will set this off. Either way, I love it.
