RE SSK Problems?
Hi Guys,
I took my car out today and once I got off the highway I could not shift into another gear...the shifter just fell. It has been like that since, you literally have to pull-up the shifter to get it to engage into a gear. The minute you clutch-in, and shift into another gear it falls and goes limp - never finding the gate, unless you pull it up. The only modifications I have in this department is the RE SSK - according to my garage, it must be a shifter problem (loose linkage, or something). It was correctly and properly installed, about a year ago. Anybody know anything more - is it the RE SSK or BMW , obviously no point bringing it to the dealer then I assume? I bought it from EAS (it was off their show car) about a year ago, I am lookign for the bill. thanks for the help

I would not go to the dealer before you have that ssk looked at and/or removed. If there is a BMW issue, they would deny that claim quickly if they notice the ssk.

Unfortunately, this mod involves the removal of several parts on the underside so your best bet is to take it where you had it installed.

Hey Niqui. Your pal from Calgary
![]() I think I know exactly what's happening. When I installed my RE SSK part of the process was to remove the stock cylinder shape part that holds the shift linkage. That part needs to be reused with addition to a RE piece. There is a slot on either side of the cylinder that needs to be pushed up till it locks into place. During the install It was a PITA trying to get it to lock but seeing as it was tight I left it. During testing it popped out. I finally got it to pop in after 30min of messing around. I'm 99% sure thats the issue. The bills in the mail
